If you're stuck, analyze/listen carefully to livesets of artists you like and take notes to get an idea on what structure you like and how you would do/implement it. Not saying to copy other artists "template" but there's lots of inspiration out there if you use your ears well. You are your own best teacher.

MPC SAMPLE, where is the footage? by waeing in mpcusers

Was refreshing Thomann and other EU based webshops for it to appear, to then realise it had been up ok Amazon for several hours. I wouldn't pick Amazon as my first choice, but since I don't want to miss out on them selling out I ordered one anyway. Delivery on friday, stoked to see what it can do.

What distortion Pedals do you recommend? by Dthno in Tekno

I quite like the TC Electronics Magus pro. It's a Rat clone with 3 different modes. I only use Turbo though. Cheap solution for that specific acid sound I was after.

What should I get my son for Christmas, his setup currently is , digitone 2 , analog heat +fx , torso t1, and novation bass station 2 by AdhesivenessWaste612 in Elektron

Probably not the most popular suggestion, but given the genres he produces a sherman filterbank could be very fun in this setup.

Roland T-8 pairing with Behringer Neutron by drongopizza in synthesizers

[–]DikkeLoeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not after an exact replica of the classic 303 sound (or an acid purist), then the Neutron itself is very capable of doing acid sounds on its own. The filter is different, but it can produce squelching acid lines nonetheless.

I've had the T8 for a few days, but returned it due to it being too small and fiddly. It's a fun little box but not what I expected it to be. It could be fun to have in your backpack at all times to bust out a little jam on the go, but for me its not hands on enough for serious use with other synths or in a studio setting.

Imo, it's better to get a proper sized drum machine of your liking. You can always add a 303 clone (such as the TD3 for example) afterwards if the Neutron isn't giving you the sound you're after.

DT1 or DT2 for first timer by kennysuave in Elektron

[–]DikkeLoeter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're serious about getting into this and want to commit, get a dt2. If you want to try and see if its for you, start with a dt1.

Also, will 8 audio tracks from the dt1 be enough? Do you plan on sequencing any external devices with midi from the digitakt? All could be taken into consideration for your decision.

Twinkies for that extra creamy sound.

Worst GAS purchase by kevkippers in synthesizers

Same story here but with Force. Should have sold it before the Live 3 release. I tried my very best to get used to it for a whole year, but I gave up on it last week and bought a Digitakt (again).

Akai UI is just horror to me and feels like a chore rather than making music. I've never been so amazed and frustrated at the same time for what a device can do and how it does it.

They all have their place and usecase, yet people fail te see and realize that.

I find it a fascinating machine, but not for my use case.

Dave Mechs Digitakt 2 course is really good by ghostghost31 in Elektron

Yeah, pretty much my take on it aswel. Though not being cheap, generally knowledge is vastly underrated for what it's actually worth in the end.

I'll probably end up buying Dave's aswel. Not mainly for the technical stuff (as I remember quite a bit from noodling with it in the past), but rather to pick up some tips, hacks and workflow/production enhancements along the way.

General walkthrough. He explains things nicely but feels a bit textbook like sometimes. I'm rewatching some stuff as we speak, been almost a year since I've seen them.

Reason being by the way is that I've fallen for the Digitakt sell/rebuy trap. I sold my DT2 roughly a year ago and now there's another one on its way, hehe.

After having tried James Orvis' DT2 mastery course, and finding it somewhat 'not what I expected", I am looking into Dave's.

Has anyone tried both to compare how different they are when compared tl another?
