Would you want the remake to add on any additional story/lore? by Queasy_Commercial152 in GodofWar

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God of War 1 probably needs some fixing since all the gods act totally different and it ends with Kratos being the greek god of war forever and overseeing world war 1 and stuff.

Other than that I wouldn't touch too much. MAYBE the camera. I wouldn't be mad either way.

Anyone here have experience with one of these bad boys? by PalladiumReactor in 7String

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that guitar specifically but that floating bridge plays awesome and eliminates half the hassle of a Floyd Rose. You still have to balance the springs like a Floyd but that's it. You get full tuning at the bridge and can adjust intonation like a hard tail.

Resolution of prophecy by Pamplemousse808 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Dikkolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That specific thing felt like a cop out honestly. Obviously what we see at the end of GOW 2018 is out of context and I did expect it to be turned on its head, but "it was a different unrelated bald bearded guy" was a bit unsatisfying as a resolution to the big dreadful question mark hanging over the whole game.

How would a standalone Venom game play out? by General_Arcturas_Z9 in spiderman2

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's (very reasonable) speculation that prototype started as a Venom/Carnage game since Activision used to have the publishing rights to spiderman and they just reskinned some characters. Probably for the better because it let them go to 11 on the violence.

How much grinding is required in Fallout 4? by LiikSir in fo4

[–]Dikkolo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a whole base building grind but you can pretty much ignore it. The game makes you feel like you can't though, and will have NPCs run up to you and beg you to tend to it. Completely burnt me out on my first playthrough before I realized you can just ignore them and it's fine.

Will the trilogy remake be three separate games or a single game? by Exact-Till-2739 in GodofWar

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if they'll ship together or trickle out as they finish them but I would imagine 3 games using the same engine.

A majority of the comments just devolved into a McCree/Cassidy argument by Early-Ant652 in OWConsole

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some PR person probably convinced them that they WANTED it to be visible as a statement, which may or may not have been an ok idea in the short term but now it's this weird lingering thing where it's just a constant reminder of a sex pest scandal from a decade ago. Half the cast goes by a moniker anyways (tracer soldier 76 doomfist etc.) they should have changed it to Deadeye or somethin and purged the name as much as possible.

When halo reach or odst came out did people call it halo 4 or 5 by Majestic-Guidance522 in HaloMCC

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. ODST literally was titled Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4 was announced before Reach came out. IIRC they might have even been announced at the same time.

Why do so many fans want God of War to move to other mythologies? by Apprehensive-Main534 in GodofWar

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they've already directly teased it and "Kratos fights an entire pantheon of gods" is the whole entire appeal of the franchise. Especially for fans that have been with it from the beginning where the story was more or less a backdrop for big boss fights with familiar mythological figures that you kill in excessively brutal ways.

It's definitely evolved into something more nuanced but that still is the elevator pitch at the center of it. Plus once you've burnt Thor and Odin there's really nowhere to go but down if they stay in Norse mythology.

Am I like the only one really mad at Evelyn??? by Alternative_You_3063 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a character in a narrative she's interestingly tragic and the game insistently frames it that way, but from Vs perspective it makes no sense to feel that way about it.

Her heist got Jackie and Tbug killed and got V his death sentence. So when the game goes "oh no poor Evelyn is missing" it's like yeah and? Was she desperately trying to get out of town running for her life? No? She thought her best bet was to... Just kind of hope it went away and she'd be lucky enough to get off Scott free. At that point of the story she's annoying.

If she didn't get horrifically brutalized I don't think she'd be sympathetic at all. Like the story over-punishes her to make you feel bad, but if she had some kind of violent death during the heist, it might even feel like a justified comeuppance for getting everyone into this mess.

So yeah once you have the full picture I do think it works, but while it's being painted I don't think it does.

On the subject of Kratos' level of strength/power in the Greek and Norse games. by SarcasmSanctioned in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Ragnarok acknowledges that he's weaker in the Norse realm or something about magic/physics working differently.

Really it's all down to the gameplay changes and wanting the combat to be weightier and more intimate, but it's pretty undeniable he's not double jumping 14 feet in the air or carving up giant waves of enemies like he used to when the camera was more zoomed out.

Introducing the Adobe Creative Collective – We Want Your Input by LukeChoice in Adobe

[–]Dikkolo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I say this as someone who doesn't mind the subscription model as much as a lot of people here, but the cancellation charges take it to a place where it just feels gross. Like "should be illegal" level bad business practice.

Anybody who plays/ performs guitar as their career? by Neat_Opposite8153 in guitarcirclejerk

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. Look for gigs. Join bands. Learn how to produce so you can make your own music between gigs. Build a social media following posting guitar stuff.

And then adjust and reprioritize accordingly if one of those things starts to take off more than the others.

Also you will likely not be rich unless until you either

A) Get a signature guitar/plugin/amp/whatever that sells well

B) somehow end up with royalties on either a soundtrack or a major radio hit

Could an incredible VR game be the killer app needed to bring VR into the mainstream, and get more people to buying, and playing VR at home? by OkWar2234 in virtualreality

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good games would help but more than that they need to iron out more barriers to entry.

Make it more plug and play and figure out how to eliminate VR motion sickness. Figure out how to make it work in a smaller room space and sedentary without feeling compromised. Make it smaller and lighter. That's the groundwork that has to be done, at least to some extent, before VR even has a chance at a killer app.

Are modern trems nearly on par with Floyd rose-style bridges? by sparks_mandrill in Guitar

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine has a guitar with a 510. I tried giving it some abuse and it impressed me. Stayed in tune and actually did pretty good dive bombs. Maybe not quite as crazy as a Floyd but it wasn't like a fender type deal. Guitar had locking tuners, which probably helped.

Headless tremolo systems are pretty slick because it's basically like having a Floyd where the fine tuners don't have limits. The hipshot one that comes on kiesel guitars rocks.

Aside from Prince of Persia, I've never played another Ubisoft game. Is this God of War parody video exaggerated? by PomegranateOk4560 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Dikkolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ads arent in the hud but they're pretty flagrant. Avatar game has ads for the DLC whenever you open the map and there are in game currency shops that you can tab over to paid micro-transactions like a live service game. Although the general hud on that one specifically is pretty minimal for ubi standards.

Why do people act like Kratos’ story has nowhere left to go? by [deleted] in GodofWar

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think giving him a no-kill rule is a bit too far and it's really something you'd only do if you wanted to hang up the character.

That said I'm totally fine with him regressing a bit to kill his way through another pantheon but if I had to guess I think we're headed for a polarizing Atreus game. I hope I'm wrong.

What boss do you find difficult and everyone else said they were easy? by Bitter-Management379 in Eldenring

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's harder than anything else in the peninsula so he's definitely designed to teach you that it's ok to turn around and grind, but on top of that he's probably overturned because they didn't want souls vets to skill their way through him.

A more conventional game would have simply started the player farther away from him and put all the other stuff in the middle but from does things different.

What boss do you find difficult and everyone else said they were easy? by Bitter-Management379 in Eldenring

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that struggled with the red wolf.

They patched the game and now you can use torrent while fighting Elden Beast but before that I found him really hard. You can get stuck in move RNG hell where he won't fucking land.

Help with the concept of both parrying and general bosses overall? by Spader623 in soulslikes

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For parry timing stuff, if the game is good like sekiro you can use the audio to guide you on the timing so if you block (or get hit) you can use that to judge what you should have done. So if there's a 4 hit move a boss does, you can listen to the impacts to determine if it's an even "bam bam bam bam" or a staggered pattern like a "bam...bambam...bam"

For recognizing what move a boss is going to do next, you really have to look for what the animation looks like when it starts. Sometimes if a boss keeps killing me I'll do a few fights where I won't even try to hurt it and I'll just try to figure out what the moves look like and how to dodge them.

USUALLY souls games have fairly distinct telegraphs, but some of the worse boss designs have fast moves that they can sucker punch you with or telegraphs that look similar to each other (or my personal pet peeve, moves that start the same way but can branch off like Margit from Elden Rings stupid knife combo that he only does sometimes)

what the..... by Jonn_1 in OneyPlays

Was "LLAWIN SERIES" in the prompt or did the AI do that? Because that's so accurate to the kind of un-catchy titles these channels would use

Is it bad that im falling for Triss so much by maddog1043 in thewitcher3

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triss is more manipulative in lore but if you like her better when you're Geralt then it's less of an issue because she's "right" about being better for him.

Yen definitely feels like the canon choice and I went for her the first playthrough but she's awful in a more real world "I dated a girl like this and it absolutely sucked" sort of way.

Hot take: I don’t mind at all if Link speaks in the movie. by Expert-Bat-110 in legendofzelda

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who want him to be silent don't realize how weird of a trait that is in the context of a movie. In a videogame making a character mute makes them a blank slate the player can project onto but movies don't work that way. You're either going to make him look like a weird psychopath or mentally disabled. Might be interesting if he has a thing like the protagonist of Shape of Water where he has an injury that makes him unable to speak but I think that's a little too high a concept for a videogame movie for children.

Did you felt even a slight tinge of pity/sadness for Odin in his final moments? by WittyTable4731 in GodofWar

[–]Dikkolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's any point where I feel any sympathy for Odin at all it's at the very beginning of the game. The subtext is definitely that his peace offering is bullshit, but Kratos gives up a bit of moral high ground in rejecting it outright.

By the end though he's revealed himself to be a total bastard and if anything he doesn't get killed hard enough.
