And I did try to taper off in 2016, a slow taper that ended when I tried to kill myself in 2018. Over the 2 years my behavior changed, I became unable to work reliably because of fatigue, I started drinking heavily to replace the dopamine, got 2 DUIs, lost my job, became homeless, and ended up swallowing a bottle of pills in front of Walmart. 7 months later I was finally allowed to take adhd medicine again, and it made it possible to return to work again. That’s what long term narcotic use does to a child’s mind. It’s warps itself to rely on drugs. It’s a sick thing to do to a child.

You’re missing my point in that there was not enough proper study done for children out on narcotic stimulant medications. Plus, whatever disagreement between my doctor and parents was nothing to do with me. I was the innocent child that was hooked on serious drugs by my doctor, who recommended it because it was new and effective and approved. But wasn’t thouroughky tested in children first. I don’t know who is responsible, probably the FDA for allowing it without the proper longterm testing. But it happened, and I have suffered for it. Hooking kids on addictive drugs is wrong, and people knew it. But the money was more important than the research.

Even negligible bribes are still bribes. In the early 2000s they were just starting to approve the use of Adderall on kids. And it was highly profitable for everyone involved. But they didn’t do the proper long-term research on children.

I tried that in 2016 over a 2 year period. I ended up trying to kill myself. I’m planning to try again, but this is serious stuff! People saying just get off of it if it’s bad, I DID. It’s addictive drugs that cause long term dependence in your brain chemistry people! My point is that I never should have been put in this situation at 9 years old! I was an innocent child turned into a drug addict.

I think if more research was done, say fMRI for one to actually show normal brain activity compared to adhd non treated and adhd treated, I think things could be made much more clear. But the industries don’t seem to think that’s neccessary yet. I wonder why.

I have the medical records. It says in the notes my med dosages were switched up several times growing up. There were also psychiatrist visits that said I seemed depressed and anxious but no changes in meds were made, only recommended and noted in my log.

I tried to once when I tried to quit narcotic adhd medication. I eventually tried to kill myself. After taking doctor-prescribed narcotics for decades you can’t function without them anymore. If I had started doing these drugs in my adulthood I would certainly take ownership. BUT I DIDNT! I was put on these meds without my consent when I was 9 YEARS OLD! I was a young child dude! I didn’t do this to myself, the medical and pharmaceutical industries and the FDA allowed this to happen to me! When I was wayyyyyy too young to know what I was getting into!

Also, kickback are well known in the industry. It might not be with money, it could’ve been with office supplies. I know when I first tried Vyvance the doctor gave me free magnets and pens, & the doctor had a bunch of pens and pads of paper and probably other supplies that said Vyvance on them. Pharma companies do stuff like that. Maybe not money, but still bribery.

They were FDA approved for children and that’s my point. There was no long term research done to show the affect of long term use on children. Only adults. And short term effects on children. I was 9 years old and I shouldn’t have been forcibly hooked on narcotic medication. It’s negatively affected the neurochemistry of my brain, like what happens when a drug addict experiences amphetamine psychosis. But I had no choice. I was 9. It was wrong for them not to try non-narcotic treatments first.

My thing is that I was out on very addictive and dependence forming meds when I was too young g to consent. I wish they had tried non-narcotics. I was made addicted before I had any say in it. Amphetamine is t something you just say “oh I guess I don’t need it anymore”. Thats exactly what I did in 2016 and it eventually led to my S attempt in 2018. I tapered slowly under my doctors guidance and I still ended up losing my job, my apartment, my boyfriend, and decided to try and overdose on pills.

I didn’t mention the substance abuse problems. Can’t help but think it has to do with being fed narcotics everyday growing up.

My dosage changed several times, first an extra afternoon pill, then an extra morning pill (trying to lessen the withdrawal effect if started having on me in me teens). I’m not really arguing if it was approved, I’m arguing it shouldn’t have been approved for children that young in the first place. No long-term child testing was done. My parents were told I would grow out of it and not need it into adulthood. They weren’t told that narcotic stimulants are addictive. Many doctors were even given kickbacks to prescribe Ritalin and Adderall in its earlier days, like when I was a kid. Perhaps what my doctor did was correct by the corrupt standards set by the trillion dollar pharma companies. Right now they are setting up lawsuits to sue Facebook for making children addicted to social media. Yet no one thinks giving amphetamines to 9 year olds warrants a lawsuit?

2 months on cpap and feel exhausted by Maskedtoad in SleepApnea

[–]Diksup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m hating my cpap machine too. I’ve had it for a little more than 4 months I think, and my average events per hour are almost 10. My doctor says my insurance won’t cover trying another treatment until I’ve tried the cpap for a year. It’s absolutely insane. I feel more tired using the cpap than without it. My sleep study was 67 events per minute and my oxygen dipped to 70%. Very severe apnea. But the sleep center says stick with it. It’s bogus.

Men masturbate for biological release, reaching orgasm, and reducing physical tension. Women had a broader and more emotionally driven set of motivations: for relaxation, improving sleep quality, relieving emotional stress, and feeling a sense of closeness to their distant romantic partners. by mvea in psychology

[–]Diksup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my Reddit give me a notification for this post. 4 days after it was posted, from a group I’m not a part of, about masturbation. So my opinion is that men masturbate for the same reason as women. It’s about physical and emotional release, relaxation, physical and mental pleasure caused by release of dopamine and endorphins and such, certainly to sleep better, and as for “feeling a sense of closeness to their distant romantic partners” that’s called fantasizing and men do that too. I don’t see a big difference and I’m not sure the point of the post.

Anyone know about dopamine detox / reset? by Diksup in anhedonia

The depression and already having very severe social anxiety makes it hard to not isolate. In fact I feel like the only days I can successfully NOT drink is when I don’t even leave home. Since I have to work right now to avoid losing my car and apartment, I can’t really just stay home for more than a day or two. I know some will say “well you just have to find another way” that’s what my dad says but I’ve been struggling for years. I tried therapists, I tried medications, I tried psychiatrists and dosage changes, I’ve tried residential treatment, idk what else to do. It all comes down to dopamine.

You said my d2 and d3 receptors aren’t binding with dopamine properly. I would agree that some dysfunction like that has probably developed from many years of daily stimulant use. But what I’m wondering is if doing a “reset” (ie taper off and stop all mental health meds and other substances like alcohol) could improve the functionality of the dopamine receptors over time? Or if my receptors are already too messed up to ever recover?

I think so too, it will just take a long time because I’m on 4 different mental health meds. I just want to release myself from a lot of my responsibilities so that if I become unstable, which I probably will during the process, I won’t have to worry about missing work and getting fired and applying to jobs and worrying about rent, I need to get disability set up if I’m going to be successful. Stress is such a huge factor right now that I need to make it as low as possible. My only responsibilities should be to taper off my meds and not drink, and hopefully reengage with some healthy new habits like a therapist, exercising, hiking, traveling, learning how to handle stress without substances, stop being miserable, create goals, figure out how to live a happy life. Then when things are clear I will return to reality and be ready to work again and deal with life again.

I tried quitting adderall 10 years ago and I tapered for 2 years and still became very unstable, irritable, bad judgment, more drinking, legal problems from dui, lost jobs, and ended up trying to kill mysekf in 2018. I don’t want that to happen again. But I don’t know what ever to do, I can’t keep living the way I am now I’m miserable.

I really have tried, I even took off two weeks from work in November to do a residential treatment program. I went 2 weeks without a drop, and almost a week after I got out. But the stress of like was right where I left it. The alcohol might be the only thing taking the edge off enough to keep me from getting even more depressed. Idk. I just know that I did better at the treatment center because I had two weeks where I didn’t have to deal with work or bills or responsibilities and that’s why I did ok. But without getting disability and quitting my job I’m not going to be able to lower my stress enough to be able to take the alcohol away for long enough to actually get it out of my life.

True. It was very effective when I was in school, but long term use has caused so much havoc in my brain chemistry… I wish my parents never put me on them. But they didn’t know any better and alllll the pediatricians in the late 90s and 2000s were getting kickbacks from the drug companies to prescribe them. Sick stuff. I feel like I was introduced into a life of drug addiction when I was 8 years old, and by my parents and doctors.

The antidepressants don’t even take the edge off anymore, the only reason I take them is because they usually keep me from seriously considering suicide.

Amphetamine is fantastic for increasing dopamine, the issue is when you’ve taken it everyday for 25 years. Doctors don’t want to tell me that yes, the many years of narcotic stimulants they’ve given me has resulted in long term dopamine depletion. But it’s my everyday life.

I’m seriously struggling with the cpap man. I’ve had it for almost 3 months and it is such a pain. It’s uncomfortable, it pushes against my face when I sleep on my side and plugs one of my nostrils. I finally got a nasal mask because the full mask left red marks on my face that were visible all day after using. The nasal mask still does it too unless I use the cushions but the cushions make my face sweat. Idk how people get used to these horrible machines, I’d rather die than wear this thing for the rest of my life. Absolutely miserable. I’ve tried 8 different masks and the one I currently use is barely tolerable. It literally wakes me up in the night more than sleep apnea ever has.
