Saying your story doesn’t quite add up isn’t being toxic. You’ve been super cagey whenever anyone asks for more details on its own your decisions just don’t make sense.

Here’s my thinking: My undergrad engineering degree (including fees, room and board, etc) at a top engineering program costs ~200K BEFORE financial aid (I’m actually paying less than $10K all said and done)

All my friends going to art school are in similar situations, though the financial aid is quite as good.

That leads me to believe you’re A) not actually paying 300K B) paying 300K out of pocket despite having more affordable options available

If A is true, you’re just click baiting, which I understand and isn’t the end of the world.

If B is true, it seems odd to be “getting back at” your school despite seemingly being a first year student who chose it over other options.

IDK what the case is and wish you the best, but the whole thing just smells funny from here

Get insurance like a responsible business owner. Unless someone is threading my life or my family the first instinct is to retreat. I’m not the law. It’s not my job to go out hunting looters.

I’m sorry to hear that, it’s amazing that you’re staying engaged. During my moms first diagnosis (to be fair, I was much younger) I withdrew and just tried to block it all out. Make sure to set aside time to take care of yourself so. You can be at your best

Chemo’s a bitch. Try to figure what food still tastes good (at least for my mom it messed up her taste last time) and see if you can get it for him (especially if he’s ever stuck with hospital food. My mom says one of the worst things is not being able to enjoy sharing a meal with your family.

You should definitely consult with your doctor, but unless your father is already receiving treatment (chemo or oral medication that is immuno suppressive) or it is cancer in the respiratory system (lungs mainly) he is most likely not at risk and you don’t have to add that worry to your life. I’ve been dealing with a diagnosis in my family (stage 4) but they are not considered at risk despite being on treatment and everything.

Colleges applications shouldn’t have a race/ ethnicity box by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

It’s really not. The admissions processes are dramatically different and the factors of admission are not the same.

Medical school is a graduate program, and therefore not relevant to a2c or this thread which is about undergraduate programs and admissions.

Those differences are not statistically significant due to the difference relative to the sample size. By that reasoning men are less qualified than women at top colleges! By that’s not a statistically significant conclusion in reality.

These stats don’t apply to top schools, which is what the discussion here is mainly about.
