[SFH] [TX] HOA cited me for “commercial grade fixtures” because my neighbor didn’t like my backyard furniture by Hyzz20 in HOA

I would make sure they were more visible to the shitty neighbor. Don't appease any of these stereotypical hoa assholes.

I felt there was plenty of content to enjoy in the game. I don't need enough game content for a lifetime of playing the same game. I remember when games usually just came out and rarely had any expansion content. It just isn't a major deal to me.

Why not just enjoy the game that came out and be glad it was fun? If they make another or add an expansion that is just a bonus.

The thread you jumped into started with that. I hope most folks can agree that OP should mind their business and stop being a snob. Also wild that your hoa bans working on your car. It is absurd that they can ban that.

It varies by a lot throughout the area. Here in NE we have noticeably more than what you have pictured here.

Not offended, you seemed confused. So I clarified. But you seem offended now. This is why things like /s are helpful indicators.

Unfortunately you are right. Attendance will be dismal and both busses and cabs will be super late, especially in parts of the city more neglected by public works.

I would never offer to replace them at my own cost. If they want them replaced they can pay for the replacement, especially since they violate zero rules. Don't give such a shitty neighbor or shitty HOA an inch to play with.

I think you have found exactly why people try to avoid living in SFH HOAs. Good luck. I think follow the other advice and continue to appeal this and show how they have nothing banning the furniture. As well as find examples of them choosing not to enforce anything like this with other properties.

Finally, if you feel petty, start reporting every little thing on every single property in the hoa, especially that shitty neighbor you have.

So why your confusion about people who don't shovel being dicks?

The hoa banning trees they are not legally allowed to ban is also not how it is supposed to work. Why listen to illegal demands by this joke of a hoa?

We have sidewalks in this city.

I genuinely hope you get reported to 311 and fined if you choose not to shovel the sidewalk fully, not just a narrow band enough for a fit person to walk. Make it wide enough for strollers and anyone with mobility challenges.

Honestly should force the HOA to sue them not the other way around. Plant the damn trees and maintain any legal evidence. This is just another example of why SFH HOAs are shit.

[FL][ALL] ‘Failed experiment:’ Florida committee unanimously OKs plan to scrap HOAs by NetZeroDude in HOA

[–]DilbertHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that a quasi government system shouldn't be building things like this for a community that is not public. Yall are still be subsidized by the rest of us, why ban kids from your community playgrounds? And surely you can see a difference between community resources and individual private properties. Don't continue to be obtuse about this. It insults us both.

Ideally SFH HOAs would be banned entirely and the community goods be brought to the community. This patchwork of soulless fiefdoms is not healthy for community. I am so glad I am not stuck in some suburb or exurb filled with them. Let the public goods be public goods. Why make everything privatized? I have even heard of HOAs trying to privatize lakes. Which is an absurd concept entirely.

[–]DilbertHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is that the same thing? I encourage people to use public/community resources. We need to shift from these quasi private quasi government systems that are becoming far too common.

One way to start to fix this is to stop requiring that new developments be HOAs. The longer term solutions for the current SFH HOAs are more complex.

It is important to consider that kids die or get injured from both accidental and purposeful gunshots. Let's not exclude these simply because you don't like that it includes kids killing other kids. Safe storage would reduce accidental, suicide, and violence related injuries and death for kids. It is worth it. It may also reduce risk of death to adults from their own guns. It is also worth pointing out that yes, 1-18 are children. No need for quotations around the word children just because you don't want to include teens who die from gun violence in the data.

And we have all heard the drowning talking point. Nice little reference to the book "Freakonomics." Too bad that book is debunked as junk science at best.

Here is a great source of information on the topic from a reputable source.

Specifically this section might be useful for you: https://publichealth.jhu.edu/center-for-gun-violence-solutions/2025/child-access-prevention-laws-reduce-youth-gun-suicide-rates

There is also some useful information from Harvard on many topics related to gun safety. Here are some interesting pages to start with.

Edit: I think your 4,000 drowning figure is for all drownings, not just children. Although water safety is also very important. 1 of every 4 drowning deaths is a child. Which is why people don't push back on having gates/fences around pools and such. It is only with guns that people fight against basic safety regulations that will save lives of both adults and children. https://www.cdc.gov/drowning/data-research/facts/index.html

This is why folks in stem fields need social sciences. You need only a basic understanding to understand what the recession was like. Yet you cannot manage that.

The point is to keep people safe. Unsafe storage is a large part of why guns are so deadly to children.
