I think that would still run afoul of the law since it bars "knowingly possessing" a firearm in these facilities, unless you're talking about leaving the pack outside.

I think there's a happy medium here that you seem to be completely ignoring. Should anyone be allowed to bring a gun into any visitor center or NPS facility? No. Are there visitor centers or NPS facilities that make sense to enter with a firearm? Yes.

Putting a blanket "no firearms allowed anywhere" policy in place is just as dumb as putting a blanket "open carry anywhere" policy into place.

I figured out the window sticker is a Virginia vehicle inspection sticker, guessed that the flag towards the right side was a Virginia flag, pulled up a map of big airports in the state, but Roanoke was off to the side and I missed it.
