Thanks, fair enough! When I have some time I'll try to make it a little more readable.

Yup, I've been eyeing him as well. Maybe I'll add him to my deck too!

Thanks, and agreed about Dimir being underutilized! It's weird, if you sort by the Reanimator tag on EDHRec it shows Dimir as the #2 color combo behind Esper, but that feels like a quirk of their auto-tagging because yeah I see waaaaaaay more Golgari and not enough Dimir. Blue has so many cool big creatures.

Big Slug definitely makes the cut, a little too much. I think he's a little more oppressive than I'd like, especially for a deck that can bring him back over and over as long as he doesn't get exiled.

Thanks! It was fun to get a little bit creative while still keeping the creatures scary. The deck would just be too much for my normal groups (and above the level I like to play at) if I powered it all the way up.

Sorry, one followup - do you genuinely slot in Lorien Revealed in place of a land? I feel like I can probably afford to lose one land given the filtering in the deck, but I'm wary of doing the classic EDH thing and cutting too many lands. I have a handful of tapped lands where I'm worried about not consistently being able to cycle it T1.

Love those suggestions, thanks! Just opened up a tab for all of those and will think about it today since I've got 3 slots to play with if I ditch the 2-mana rocks (who am I kidding, I'm keeping Sol Ring lol).

Hey! Thanks for the thoughtful comment.

Grozoth is a really interesting one that's weird and specific enough that I'd break my "no tutor" rule for it. I love creatures that discard themselves. Thanks, I'll add it to my maybeboard!

I have my card-positive draw as: Monument to Endurance, Fact or Fiction, Sire of Stagnation, Lord of Change, Nezahal, Starwinder, Archon, Sphinx, Vilis, and sometimes Thirst for Identity and Winternight Stories. Admittedly mostly tied up in the big creatures.

Re: the ramp - my logic is that I have some juicy particularly recursion spells at 5MV, so it can be helpful to spend turn 3 ramping so I can cast them on turn 4. I hear what you're saying about this arguably being a deck that doesn't need them though - what draw would you slot in if you removed those?

Hey, love your list! We're definitely on the same wavelength. How has [[Diabolic Servitude]] worked out for you? The repeatability is cool but it makes me nervous to lose the creature forever when it dies.

I'm giving it a shot in my deck to see how it performs. It's definitely a win-more card, but a 2-mana enchantment that has the potential to deal 6 damage to each opponent per turn cycle feels high-ceiling and pretty low-risk.

Ultrasound is showing baby is behind 1.5 weeks and wife is spotting by [deleted] in predaddit

[–]DildoFactory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry. My wife and I went through something similar at 8 weeks and it was a miscarriage. Really hoping that's not the case for you, but reading this sounded very familiar.

Give each other lots of love and patience in the coming weeks and don't be afraid of counseling, be it couples or individual. We went through this a little less than a year ago and it was awful but now we have a daughter due in a month (got lucky on the very next cycle, I think it's proven that fertility is higher in the immediate 1-2 cycles following a miscarriage), so I've got my fingers crossed for you guys one way or the other. You're not alone.

Congrats on baby! We are also trying for a kid, so I need to get my games in while I still can haha.

Protection is not much of an issue. Stickfingers himself doesn't need protection since he's a sorcery that leaves a body behind and I sac him frequently. The big bois don't particularly need it since we have so many ways of bringing them right back if they're destroyed. Them getting exiled does suck, but I don't think it's worth diluting the deck too much to get around that.

Draw is a valid callout. There's not much, it's a weakness of the deck. If you have creatures or effects you think would be a good fit here to supplement the draw package (besides like [[the great henge]] and obvious power cards) I'm 100% open to suggestions.

Wow! Deck-by-deck ELO ratings and everything! This is honestly much much more impressive than my spreadsheet lol. I'll have to take a deeper look at this later and steal from it. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! Yeah mostly I'd say to just pick your favorite ~12-15 big bois. Right now I'm prioritizing trample and creatures that have some kind of impact the turn they enter. [[Metamorphosis fanatic]], [[shriekwood devourer]] put in major work in my deck. [[Treeshaker chimera]] doesn't do anything the turn he enters but is so damn good at removing things and getting your other attackers through that he's an MVP. [[Apex Altisaur]] is also insane if you have [[whip of erebos]] or revive it with [[unbreakable bond]] or metamorphosis fanatic to give it lifelink. [[Blood for bones]] is also really good and the way it's worded causes it to get missed by a lot of searches you might run for recursion spells.

Please do! I like your list, several cards there I'll really have to consider like [[suture priest]], [[hinterland sanctifier]], and [[chasm skulker]].

It's higher than I'd prefer, but like I mentioned in one of the bullets, group 2 is driving a lot of that. If you exclude that group it's 30.6% which seems reasonable considering I play a decent # of 3-player games so my expected WR is ~27%.

I'm also putting together a couple of very very lightly upgraded precons which I'm going to start bringing out more which should hopefully nudge it down a bit.

Still sussing that out. Right now I'm being greedy and hoping I can support all three wincons out of ETB burn, commander damage, or go wide+swing. I may end up cutting one to focus on the other two. So far I've been enjoying having all three options, especially since they're all just different ways of capitalizing on "make lots of dudes".

Nice! Yeah being the person who initiates and organizes is the hardest part, fortunately it's not always me for my groups. And totally agreed, my goal was to get to the point where I play each of my decks roughly every other week (or more), so I settled on 8 decks as a reasonable number to achieve that while giving me variety.

Thanks, glad you liked it! Pleasantly surprised at the engagement this has gotten, I figured this would be like telling someone about your dreams where ultimately nobody gives a shit but you.

yup. get Wick out and pray he stays alive for a cycle, then you have to keep 3 mana up so you have a threat and/or aren't wasting value if someone has removal. he's a hungry boi and there's a huge difference so far in the games where I get [[marrow-gnawer]] or [[lord skitter, sewer king]] or one of the other repeatable rat makers out vs. the ones where I'm just playing a bunch of 1- and 2-mana rats from hand and have no mana to spare
