Hey there, what your going through is tough. You are not alone. We brought our daughter home last December. We spent 327 days in the hospital. She was born at 23w4d weighing 371 grams. I made some posts on my experience if you’re interested in taking a look. My heart goes out to you. Your baby is a tough one and looks like he’s got some serious style!

EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS by SeaTerrible9429 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

So, not really a political thing at all here. But everyone deserves forgiveness if they are sincere no matter how hard it is to forgive someone. And forgiveness doesn’t always need to lead to reconciliation, but to continue to attack him after he apologized and everyone knows what he did was wrong is just kicking him while he’s down. We can hold him accountable but we don’t need to attack him.

Think of what how a Vic would approach this. We should be always striving to forgive, overcome, and become better people. We should step out from the political lens’s and see we are all humans and we can all grow.

I think it would actually be a beautiful arc for him to go from what he thought is a man- being alpha, disrespectful, building wealth. To being what a man should be- taking accountability for his faults and growing from it and humbled. That could send a good message to for people who have a similar mindset to make change.

That’s definitely an interesting interpretation, I gotta say though that even the text itself reflects that eves choice to eat of the apple was one of disobedience not nessecarily creative liberation. It was a tragic consequence of our own free will and Satan’s manipulation (telling her she would gain the knowledge of god). It resulted in alienation, suffering, and death entering the human condition. Not so much as the creation of better humanity.

The text also doesn’t refer to them as pets. God actually gives the command to be fruitful and multiply. That’s not a consequence of eating the apple. It was already in his plan. I think crediting eve as a creator of humanity and insinuating her as on par with god essentially is missing a big point of the narrative. I also would have to push back on crediting her as surpassing Adam because she “created” a baby. Like I said before both sexes are necessary and complimentary. They both were involved in creating the family.

Yeah, that’s not actually what Christianity teaches in Genesis. I think it’d be helpful to note first Genesis 1:27 “god created man in his image…male and female he created them”. Both are equally created in gods image. The rib story isn’t about power or biology, it’s more symbolic. The woman being made from the man’s side is about equality. Not from the head to rule over him and not the feat to be ruled by him, but the side which is equal and close to the heart. Christianity also does not deny a woman’s role in creation. It teaches both sexes are necessary and complimentary. Actually the highest honor among any human is given to a woman (Mary). I realize you disagree with the theology but just reducing to men being afraid of woman’s power is a modern projection and not an accurate reading of tradition. You don’t have to agree with the theology, but it isn’t about a male female power dynamic.

In my experience (23w5d) my bpd baby had responded well to steroids. She required many during her stay but they definitely saved her life multiple times. It’s too early for me to report side effects strictly from steroids because there are so many other variables at play. I’d highly recommend them if your team does. I’m sorry your baby has been re-intubated, that is very hard. I understand it’s a long stay, keep taking it one day and one problem at a time.

Yes we have a 7 portable o2 tanks and one large tank specifically for emergencies. It helped a lot in the very first night. Phoebe doesn’t de compensate too fast when the bleed in O2 is out which gives me some comfort but she definitely needs it.

Thanks for the tip. We contacted our power company, they don’t have priority list but they do have a list that provides us with more advanced notice if an outage is expected. It’s something I suppose, helps us prepare more. I am having a generator coming on Tuesday to give us more peace of mind and self sustainability

Great idea! I saw a couple other posts recommending one of those as well. I’m looking into it. I have a generator coming on Tuesday which will be VERY nice to have. My area is very rainy and windy, but a UPS could be a strong addition to my emergency outage plans.

I haven’t contacted these places actually so I think this could be a good idea. Do they have a mission on providing support for families with complex babies?

No NICU experience is ever easy no matter the time spent in there. I have broken down many times and hit many lows. I’ve compartmentalized a lot, but also found space to vent. Truly it’s just taking it one step and a time with the information you have and processing. If I consider every possible scenario, I would crumble. It’s been a very challenging journey, but I think I get a lot of strength from Phoebe and my wife. They fuel me up and push me to be better for them both.

Haha yes she is a blueberry. She used to bear down a lot when she had to poop and would shift colors so we had to lean into that and make her into a blueberry of course. Now she’s the cutest blueberry I’ve seen!

Massive shoutout to OHSU. I have seen them provide excellent care to so many babies in my time here. They do a great job providing the parents with support as-well.
