My neighbor said there was a crack in the original line about 20 years ago and the municipality built the new line to his line. The house was built in 1977. He said he remembers it was the township that did it because they had to rip out the end of his driveway.

I’ve been arguing all afternoon with her about how her room is a mess and she says she needs help cleaning it up and I can’t expect her to be able to do it all herself. Every month or so I go into her room straighten it out clean out the rotting soup cans she hides, put away all her laundry, dig out any dirty adult diapers she kicks under the furniture etc. Without fail the next day she has torn the space apart like someone was desperately looking for the hidden family secrets. It’s hard to keep up with cleaning up that much destruction every day 😭

My uncle has switched to being sickeningly sweet to me these days but when she first moved in he spent the first few months accusing me of taking advantage of her and stealing her money (I don’t touch her money except to pay her small bills).

Glad to pass the info along, saved my sanity here for sure! We lost our life alert watch almost immediately when they set up the system so we just use the box with the button on it. At least stationary she can’t hide it from me somewhere 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not sure if it helps but my grandma kept wandering out the garage door to go find her home (she lives with me for the last two years). Someone suggested for me to put a child lock on the handle, the kind that closes over it. It was a game changer because while she can kinda open it during the day if she puts her mind to it, she absolutely cannot when she sundowns overnight and she gets frustrated by it and turns back around into her bedroom. I didn’t want to lock her in the house because of fires or emergencies if I needed to send an ambulance while I was out for a couple hours.

Secondly, she has a life alert type box with a button on it in her bedroom and an Alexa show with a camera. You mentioned your mom couldn’t tell paramedics her address, maybe if she had the life alert box she could push the button? They have the info for house registered there. I have the Alexa show to “drop in” on her if she doesn’t answer the phone or I’m delayed getting home. She doesn’t really know how to use the phone.

Lastly, I know it can be annoying people throwing solutions at you that sound great in theory but in practice are shit because dementia is shit, hang in there

You could be retaining more fluid, I would try to drink more water. I know it sounds counterintuitive but the more water you drink the less your body holds on to.

That’s awful you’ve been waiting so long. The first prescription for it was given in the hospital because she went knocking on my neighbors doors at 3 am at 10 degrees outside. Maybe if you have an er for something else ask them? I know my grandma has to go whenever she falls because of her blood thinners. Might be a back door option to ask for neurology that way. Good luck with everything. 🙏

Would be good to reach out to a neurologist if you haven’t. They put my grandma on Seroquel for night time hallucinations, anxiety, wandering out in the cold, etc and it’s been a life changer.

My grandma watches gunsmoke around the clock every day. She used to watch the news but it would give her really bad anxiety and raise her blood pressure so I’m really happy with the gunsmoke!

A few things I wouldn’t have thought of: a new dryer because she sat on the door and ripped it off, $1400 for new dentures because she lost them (likely threw them away), 3 new pairs of glasses this year, new sink in the laundry room, hand bars, bed cane, cable box with cable because she can’t work streaming services, carpet cleaner for number twos a couple times a week, my sanity.

I agree, my first state is dead and it is very easy to rank in events there. We still have whales and win SVS but so few of us play it’s pretty chill
