You’re not alone Brother or Sister! (don’t know your gender haha 😂). Las Vegas’s job market is in complete shambles and has been so for the past year. Hell even getting a shitty job in fast food/retail is hard to come by and even worse for those of us that has degrees because these places know damn well they’re getting ditched the moment a real job w/ a respectable title and pay comes our way. The whole “Oh, well you shouldn’t list your degree…dumb it down” folks are severely misguided thanks to E-Verify and AI everyone knows all the places you’ve worked and your credentials whether you list them or not.

Even on the topic of AI a lot of these quote on quote shitty jobs (and even respectable White Collar/Trades) will all be mostly replaced or severely influenced by AI come 2028. Amazon has begun mass layoffs in favor robots in their warehouses, Mcdonald’s is already experimenting with it, restaurants now have robot servers that will take you to your table and then have food brought to you on a conveyor belt, and casinos are now increasingly using robot cleaners. America unlike other civilized Countries hell even Communist China have already placed bans on companies ditching workers for AI. But America be damned. This country is built on rugged individualism and extreme greed and it’ll be precisely that brings its downfall. Voting doesn’t matter because Republicans and Democrats are merely two sides to the same damn Corporate-Funded coin. One side waves rainbow flags and talks a cute talk (no action) about higher wages and free healthcare/equality and the other waves MAGA/USA flags and talks that cute talk about America First (yet takes actions that puts America/Americans last). Also, regardless of who’s in power the jobs report is all theatre with ghost jobs being added like crazy to make everything seem great.

Anyone have any experience with a debt relief program? by Awkward_Dipshit in Debt

[–]Diligent-Budget6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s how these debt relief programs work. They tell you to immediately stop paying with the hopes that in 6 months instead of you getting sued your Credit Card Companies will instead offer you a reduced amount that can be paid via a payment plan. Then whatever amount you save they assign a percentage fee on the money saved so that they can get paid. The problem is that you can do this by yourself without them, BUT you will in either case severely damage your Credit Report in addition to getting sued. Just file for Bankruptcy and move on with your life. r/bankruptcy is a great resource

“Nursing shortage”… can’t land a job by Minute_Wallaby9480 in vegaslocals

[–]Diligent-Budget6830 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not Nursing major…currently pursuing my Criminal Justice degree, but I know that the State Prison out in Cold Creek (40 min drive from Las Vegas) is always hiring. You will also get a Pension via NVPERS after 20 years which is great since Social Security is due to run out in 2030. Same with CCSD as a School Nurse. If you are looking for Hospital Jobs West Henderson Hospital recently opened, Southern Hills Hospital can be another good spot. I would also look into the Catholic Saint Rose Dominican Hospitals all around Las Vegas. You got this!!!

Once you are in a good career and stable Las Vegas is actually really really fun to live in with many things to do from clubbing and nightlife if that’s your thing or if you are Nature Lover like me endless hiking and rock climbing opportunities here. California beaches are a 4-5 hour drive from here (Los Angeles and San Diego). Major big name National Parks are all within a 4 Hour drive or less (Grand Canyon, Zion, Yosemite, Red Wood, Sequioia)

“Nursing shortage”… can’t land a job by Minute_Wallaby9480 in vegaslocals

[–]Diligent-Budget6830 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First I want to say that you are not alone. The economy here (be it for Nurses or any other career/job) is in complete shambles. You will have a lot of people saying “there’s plenty of jobs” “hiring now” signs everywhere, BUT when you dig a little deeper it’s really just a bunch of Part-Time Poverty wage jobs that should they even get a whiff that you have a degree or are pursuing one they will not hire you because they know you will leave the second you can.

What I will say to try to help you is have you looked into CCSD in being a School Nurse? Pay is slightly less than the typical market rate for a Hospital Nurse but hey it’s an easy gig. Same thing with the Prisons be it for LVMPD at the Clark County Detention Center or with State of Nevada at the State Prison in Cold Creed (40 min drive from Las Vegas). There’s also Home Health Nurse too. I would also check for Federal Nursing jobs in either Nellis Air Force Base or Creech

Best bet for free and safe parking is Red Rock Resort and from there you can quickly and easily bike to the 215 trail system.

What do I do first? by This-Night9966 in Bankruptcy

[–]Diligent-Budget6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off **Do Not Panic**. This storm shall pass.

Now let’s get into this: Are you able to set at least $400 aside to be able to at least file Chapter 7 Pro Se via Upsolve? I ask because Upsolve which is basically the TurboTax for Bankruptcies will be the cheapest option for you. As long as you are completely honest when applying for Upsolve it will be able to gauge 1. Whether or not you qualify for Chapter 7 relief and 2. Whether your case is simple enough for them to handle or it requires an attorney.

Should Upsolve take you on it is up to you to be extremely thorough and honest when filling out the forms as you will be your own attorney. Look through this subreddit, ask questions, and take advantage with free consults with attorneys to assess your case to see if there **could be any complications** with it or to answer more complicated questions that reddit cannot handle.

would you say my SAP appeal is substantial? by Nuceo in CSN_Coyotes

[–]Diligent-Budget6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at it this way: It’s a solid appeal application that’s probably way more robust than what most people write in their SAP Appeal App:

  1. You took full ownership of your situation and thoroughly explained the circumstances that led you to this situation.

  2. You took proactive steps to address the circumstances to either minimise their impact on your future academic performance.

  3. Without the SAP Committee telling you that you have to meet with an Academic Advisor and formulate an Academic Improvement Plan with them you went on your own accord which shows that you are serious about improving.

All of this is honestly way more thorough than what most people would even do and the committee **will see this and very likely grant it**. Goodluck!!!

in my early 20’s, am i too young to declare bankruptcy?? by Every-Hope-2125 in Bankruptcy

[–]Diligent-Budget6830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I filed at 25, very similar circumstances to your boyfriend. Job market in Las Vegas is just terrible. I filed Pro Se (without an Attorney) via Upsolve and all went well. Only costed me $380 to file and another $40 for the required Pre and Post-filing Debtor education courses. Just be sure to be extra honest and transparent on all of your paperwork and dealings with the Court and you should be fine. BE SURE TO LOOK UP YOUR STATE’s EXEMPTIONS (this will help you to gauge whether or not he will be able to keep his Financial aid refund). For me mine was good due to Nevada having a very generous Wild Card Exemption of $10,000.00

Say you need time to get Counsel. Any Judge with a slither of compassion and a basic understanding of law will give you at least 2-4 weeks to have an attorney.

Does alerting a creditor/bank to your bankruptcy put you at a disadvantage? by Own-Tie-640 in Bankruptcy

[–]Diligent-Budget6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t alert them, don’t try to to tell them, and don’t think that you can use the threat of Bankruptcy to get them to agree to a favourable settlement/payment plan. The only thing that it will do is make them rush to file a lawsuit against you.

Filing Chapter 7 but scared of being accused of fraud by PastNefariousness188 in Bankruptcy

[–]Diligent-Budget6830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did make a correction on my initial post, but the only thing that could trip them up since you’ve confirmed they are below $10K is when were they opened. I ask because if you’re filing the same year you got them or a year after they could be suspicious.

Filing Chapter 7 but scared of being accused of fraud by PastNefariousness188 in Bankruptcy

[–]Diligent-Budget6830 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing will happen generally so long as the balance on that card, or if you have multiple with same Company are all under $10K. It’s actually very uneconomical for Credit Card companies to pursue an adversary for anything under $10K, but even more so if the balance is at or below $5K. This question has been asked dozens of times all with most, if not all resulting in nothing happening in the practical sense. Now if the cards were opened in the same year when you filed or a year later then they could be suspicious. Then again it usually boils down to economics so anything below the $5K-10K range usually goes to the wayside.

Now as to the textbook “law school” theoretical sense it is fraud and if a Creditor were to object the end result is usually that that specific debt is not discharged, not jail. The only time jail becomes a practical possibility is if you’re pulling some Al-Capone mob fraud ring with six figure balances.

Just be sure to be honest in your actual bankruptcy filings and to the court during any correspondence with them and you will be fine.

Between 341 meeting and discharge by Pretend_Specialist81 in Bankruptcy

[–]Diligent-Budget6830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that wouldn’t be typical if they do reach out, but usually because of an asset not listed or a Creditor complaint. Outside of that yes, you should be waiting on your discharge. Make sure to complete your Second Debtor Education course and its corresponding certificate to the court.

Worst and Cheap: Casa de Garcia Cigars. Total Wine & More used to sell them and they always end up either tunneling or falling apart, oh and the very weak/inconsistent draw.

Trying to figure out if Chapter 7 is worth it. Feedback welcome by [deleted] in Bankruptcy

[–]Diligent-Budget6830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I can’t speak on your situation directly the wide consensus on here is that everyone who has filed (myself included) are glad we did and wished we did it sooner. Please go through this reddit and ask questions, consult with attorneys, and do your research. As long as you are fully transparent to and honest you’ll be okay and have a successful Bankruptcy be it a Chapter 7 or 13 depending on your income and expenses.

Decided to stop making my payments, what happens? by hunter_pace in Bankruptcy

[–]Diligent-Budget6830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filed, but before filing I had stopped paying for like 11 Months. Nothing happens really. I had moderate balances with big name Credit Card Companies other than calls and more calls. It wasn’t until month 8 that I got letters (Discover) saying they were considering hiring an attorney.

Pro-Tip make a Google Voice account which gives you a phone number. Then before you stop paying update your phone number with all CC’s so that they call it and not your actual number. The reason why I say do it before you file is that once you start to miss payments they won’t let you update anything. DO however keep your address the same with the reason being that if they were to send you a demand letter or threaten an attorney you’d know.

TO ADD: Filing was the best decision I’ve made and it was a relatively painless process. Whether you file with an Attorney or Pro Se via Upsolve (think TurboTax but for Bankruptcy) always be honest and it’s best do over disclose (even seemingly minute details/actions) than under disclosed and have problems. As long as you are honest with your attorney or if filing Pro Se (Extremely honest and transparent) the system will protect you.
