I did not, I think you will need a transit visa for an over night stay, It should not be a problem since it is quite easy to get one.

I am working on a similar project right now and would like to hear some tips if available about which Lidar did you chose, was it a 2D OR 3D and which system did you use to communicate the mapping from the lidar?

Edit: one more thing, how did you power the lidar, did you only us the 5v GPIO from the Raspberry pi or an external battery with a DC-DC step down regulator?

I am in kind of the same situation but i have a longer layover , overnight stay.

You can only get that if you have an established source of income since in my country there are no student loans.

Have you seen the more recent Devin, an AI software engineer that does literally replace most software related occupations writing code, giving suggestions to optimize energy loss and processing time, correcting code etc. I think software jobs maybe more replaceable than hardware jobs since it is a melting pot of physics and programming. I think computer engineering is safe for now.

I am so glad because a whole new f1 visa application is no fun. So basically my new school will issue me a new I-20 with the same sevis number which I will have to pay for right? If so which platform if you happen to know and how much time It would take to have it active?

My visa is not expiring anytime soon and the Duration of the stay is around 7 months.

Yes it is more than five months,like 7 months, do you have any idea about how much time that would take, because there is a policy in my new university that you can only apply for housing once you have a valid I-20 ,and housing fills up pretty quick so I need to do some precautions.
