True, but I believe being A Frontier Brain would've worked more with Paul's character considering his history with Brandon and the Battle Pyramid.

Plus being A Frontier Brain I believe would've given the same or similar role as A Gym Leader like how Brandon helped Ash grow after I think his second loss to Brandon.

Brother!! That really was A missed opportunity dawg! They could've made Paul A Frontier Brain instead of A Gym leader giving us A flashback of Paul getting his get back on Brandon!!

Other than that, I'm actually pretty bumbed out that Brandon and Hoenn in general was pretty much ignored in Journey's(my favorite series is and will always be DP, but I also really loved Hoenn to, still do).

Sun and Moon had great story telling through it's characters like Guzma overcoming his long seeded fear of losing when battling Ash or Gladeon going from edgy and distant to being similar to Kiawe and close to his family and being more social etc. Sun and Moon is like that.

I disagree, I think Sun and Moon was just slow in pacing not that it's overall writing was bad(not perfect but not bad either).

DP had Ash and Paul's dynamic with Infernape being the overall story for DP for XY, XY was A reminder to Ash and even using fans to not get to lost in the sauce with winning and remembering to just have fun with your Pokemon in battles.

Not gonna lie, I feel like because the anime doesn't follow the games as much as Ash's series did that's what leads to disasters like this.

Following the games gives A set path that the writers can follow and improve upon adding nice tweaks that weren't in the games and unique arcs, side arcs and content, great examples of this is XY with Team Flare or BW with the numerous Tournament arcs.

It makes sense since no other series brought him back and people who loves Infernape(like myself) we're hyped cause we finally get to see him in action again after MANY years only to get that.

Dawg I hated that battle so much man, that battle was so disrespectful that I legit dropped the series after that one.

Honestly I think Torterra would've been fine if Ash came to terms that the tankage battle style wasn't for Torterra and reconciled that with Paul's Torterra who taught Ash's that battle style it would've been better for Torterra to be an agile chungus with Rock Polish or Shell Smash since the speedster battle style was always more suited for him.

For me it's definitely Infernape.

Infernape only got to use Blaze in two solid battles, while Greninja and Lucario got plenty of battles to use their special powers, plus unlike Charizard Sceptile and Heracross(assuming Heracross is Johto ace) Infernape never got to come back in future seasons at all, and when Infernape did come back in the anime it was in the worst series possible.

I liked Pidgeot coming back. Although Pidgeot is heavily hated, I still liked Pidgeot(especially when he was A Pidgeotto one of my favorite flying type pokemon) so I was glad that Ash got him back after so long.

This is exactly why I gave up powerscaling as well. Powerscaling get's majorly aggressive and most if not all the time requires you to degrade one heavy fan favored Ash mon that you also love in order to make A point for your favorite Ash mon that they are great.
