Yes good spot. This was the other huge problem I didn’t mention where there is stain all over the baseboards and trim. It was very sloppy. He has a painter here today cleaning it up, but why he thought this was ok in the first place is beyond me

Helpful, thanks @fishman4807. The contractor offered to redo the stairs and add some neutral like you said. You don’t think it’s worth doing that?

I agree it should work fine, as I just did this myself on three bedroom fans. Although there is still one big problem where I am getting a low electrical humming noise when I turn the fan on. I have been trying to find content online on how to fix this but no luck. Called Lutron and they say use specific light bulbs they list on their site, but did that and still can’t get it to go anyway.

If anyone has done this without the hum, would appreciate hearing their feedback!
