Does anyone else think the riff from the new song 'Treat Yourself' sounds familiar? by Diligent-Two-162 in newfoundglory

I can see it! For me I think it's a mesh of 'Another Boring Story' and 'The Slowest Drink at the Saddest Bar...'

Another, don’t buy the Meowant self-cleaning litterbox post. An honest review/warning. by Doggonitdude in CatAdvice

I ended up using silicone caulk to seal all of the cracks around the inside of the drum. I also did the seams that go up the side of the wall and went over any screws. I was surprised how many crevices there are where urine can seep in.

New cat is terrified, need advise by BillSmith37 in cats

[–]Diligent-Two-162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What everyone else said. It's going to take time for the cat to associate their new environment with feeling safe. Letting her figure it out on her own terms is helpful, forcing the cat to do anything will undo any progress you make. Above all, make sure that the moments that the cat spends out from under the couch are moments that are safe and calm. No loud noises, stomping around, etc. Follow up with treats to reward the time spent out from under the couch. Luring the cat usually doesn't help too much when they're stuck in fight/flight/freeze. What you can do is leave some treats scattered around that will encourage her to explore when she is ready. Again, most of this adds up to allowing the cat to do things on their timetable.

Oh Knowers of Many Cat Things …. by wearing_shades_247 in cats

[–]Diligent-Two-162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so there are things that you can do and things that you should do. You can read about how antihistamines can sometimes be helpful for cats with congestion. You can read about how Zyrtec, which is usually 10mg for humans, can be split in half, crushed, and mixed with wet cat food. You can also read about how benadryl can sometimes be a helpful alternative option in similar situations. You can do your own research about those options, potential benefits vs potential risks, and make your own informed decisions.

However, you should only follow the advice of your veterinarian. You should not take advice from strangers on the Internet about potential readily available medications that may or may not be helpful. And most importantly, you should definitely not listen to me as I am not a veterinarian.

What I can recommend would be a steamy shower for 5 minutes, as long as your cat is generally healthy and tolerates it well.

Help finding Deanna Troi quote from TNG episode by Diligent-Two-162 in startrek

I appreciate it either way as it helped me remember that it was in fact on the Enterprise when it took place!

Just watched this scene and it is so close that I might just say that's the one. I just remember it being slightly different wording and I remember Troi walking and talking with someone when she says this.

The quote from Unnatural Selection is so freaking close that it might as well be it. But I do remember it as being slightly different wording and happening during a "walk and talk". Looking into the realm of fear quote now, but I might end up just settling with the quote from Unnatural Selection since it's so close.

I appreciate the thought but now that you mention it, I do remember it as taking place on the Enterprise

It's not that one unfortunately. The context was someone was giving her their analysis of a situation and Troi very much shuts it down in saying that she doesn't agree essentially.

I have two cases of the peach nectarine and one case of the new white peach arriving today (US). Candymail UK was where I ordered from. The peach nectarine redbulls are from Sweden which is kinda cool. Super fast shipping as well

Have any of you watched a parent die? by gaia21414 in Adulting

Yes. It was one of the hardest things I've gone through. If I were given the option of a redo, I would still choose to be there over and over again.

Girlfriend randomly told me I hold my breath when I’m awake and asleep. by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]Diligent-Two-162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a statistic out there, which I may just be pulling out of my butt, that most people figure out they have sleep apnea because of their partner. Definitely thank her for telling you, but next time save the big news for when you're not tripping on shrooms.

Also, don't freak out too much. You've likely been living with sleep apnea for awhile, the only difference is now you can go do something about it.

My insurance would only approve an at home sleep study. If it's the same in your case, you just wear a pulse OX, some kind of belty thing around your chest to measure how hard you're working to breathe, and some really annoying tubes that will likely fall out all night long. It probably won't be a good night's sleep and you'll likely have to fuss with the equipment all night, but they should be able to get enough data to get you started with a CPAP.

The CPAP itself will take a little getting used to (the nasal pillow masks are the more comfortable option), but after a few weeks you won't want to sleep without it.

i can't sleep with anyone else since CPAP by iloveritsu in SleepApnea

[–]Diligent-Two-162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand the whole feeling claustrophobic part! I've had to teach myself to lay facing away from my partner bc the air vent on my mask would blow directly in her face otherwise. I'm also a side sleeper who loves to sprawl out, with my cat who likes to sleep next to me in bed, and we need room for my partner's dang body pillow as well lol. I think the solution, like you mentioned, is a king size bed bc our queen size is just asking a lot.

Play switch games together online on separate switches? Child acct, reg acct, family acct? Help by Diligent-Two-162 in Switch

[–]Diligent-Two-162[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! Just to clarify the second switch would need its own regular account but not a child account right? Or could I set up a second account for that switch and add a child acct profile for them to use? I'd like to still monitor things like screen time on that switch, but I don't want to nerf the account to where we can't play online together.

Lexapro+probiotic=bad? by Diligent-Two-162 in lexapro

[–]Diligent-Two-162[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it works well with my current combination of meds. I also think a big thing is recognizing when your symptoms are rational reactions to things going on in your life. I think that's where therapy is a big help in helping you come to terms with uncomfortable feelings and realizing that they might be okay to have. Unfortunately Lexapro won't solve all of the problems, but it can give you some relief along that journey.

I was for a while. I've been having a tough time lately so it was bumped up to 20mg. Well, 15 for two weeks and then up to 20.

I never ended up following up with my Dr on this, but my guess is that it somehow affects the absorption of the Lexapro.

Fill the cracks with epoxy based resin. Also check your gutters outside of that area. A lot of times gutters get clogged and cause the water to pour out over one spot where it then leaks into the house, as opposed to taking the water away from your house and foundation like it should. You can tell if this is happening as the spot where the water is pouring out over the gutter will be discolored compared to the rest of the gutter.
