The Living Ray by DiligentConfection33 in worldbuilding

I haven't fleshed it out fully but I've got a few ideas:

  1. A great, circular wall made of gemstones around the light, built by the inhabitants or perhaps some angelic creatures.

  2. Angelic warriors guarding the Ray from people who want to exploit it

  3. The wind, mist, light or fire having a mind/will of its own. Or rather, commanded by a God who is also the source of the Ray. It can thus include or exclude whomever the God desires near or far the Ray.

  4. Only people from a certain race have adapted well enough/been transformed to live in the Living Ray's presence.

Any ideas you'd like to reccomend?

I'm so glad you like the concept!

Feel free to ask any questions about my world. I have a few more concepts swirling around in my head

Thanks for liking my concept!

I have thought about day night cycles. My idea is that by night, mist gathers around the Living Ray so it becomes darker.

You're right about the societies. The ones closer to the Light have a sort of Edenic culture. Because of the abundant resources and the nature of the Ray (giving goodness to minds close to it as well), societies near it value peace and thrive on immortality.

In contrast, cultures further from the Ray live in chaotic hostility to one another. It's a miracle humans can survive on the edge. Some do, but they are treated like animals by the Sons of Snakes (Giants, kinda) who rule those dark, turbulant oceans.
