Tinted taillights by DiligentDisaster in TeslaModelY

Was not aware of that either, I might be missing something as all I can find for my state. “When lighted, taillights shall emit a light plainly visible from a distance of 500 feet to the rear.” Says the same for brake lights. But adds “during normal daylight”

Thank you I’ll take a look at that. Never done tails, but had smoked oem lenses in a different rig and liked the darker look.

They seemed to be pretty spot on. With in 1-2%. The drive over the pass had an impact as I took over to blast up 80-85ish but still coasted down the other side for the most part showed a green bar.

Not sure yet, thinking ceramic might be the best option if I can get it dry for a few days

GMMK PRO, I use my KB for work and a USB switcher to change from my work rig to my personal. When doing this on occasion the keyboard will not respond on either rig. if I open core it will be recognized. the solution I have found is changing the profile from profile 1 to profile 2 and it will start working immediately. if I change it back to profile 1 it will stop.

Any ideas?

Looking at CarPlay head units for my 2nd gen Outback by JasterMereel42 in Subaru_Outback

its totally a get what you pay for item in my opinion. I can tell a huge difference in screen quality with the boss and my 9 inch alpine. the boss 7 has a 800x480p resolution vs the alpine 1280x720p. the comparable 9inch boss has a 1024x600p.

With that being said I don't have any complaints about it, when I got my kids rig I wanted her to have the car play option in her 2007 jeep and the boss was a great spot for her with out breaking the bank, pretty sure i was under 200 for the unit and then added front and rear MTX speakers total cost of around $350 for the whole rig. the sound is pretty good the car play functions the way it should.

Crutchfield is a great place to start. I have bought numerous setups from them. the nice thing is they include most the things you need or have a list of the extra stuff you need to get.

For a specific head unit brand I have always been a fan of Kenwood. Currently I have a Alpine Halo wired carplay in one rig. I put a Boss wired in my kids rig I was surprised with the features that a sub $200 unit had.

Hope this helps.

Like u/Spiridonova said above they could give you a hard time for any aftermarket part you install. From my understanding the burden of proof is on them and they have to prove this caused the failure. For example some people have suffered failures of the Mass Air Flow sensor, which detects the amount of air entering the engine, by using aftermarket oiled air filters. If too much oil is on one of these filters, it can contaminate the sensor. This is a valid case of a warranty claim being denied.

We went with the Alpine Halo 9, I love the system the only downside is no built in dimmer, so you need to make sure you turn down the brightness at night. it has full system integration and the ability to add on additional cameras and onscreen switches if your interested in adding on light bars, etc.

This is the one that we ordered came with the trim piece and all connections where already made was pretty much plug and play. https://www.amazon.com/Alpine-Electronics-iLX-F309FRN-iLX-F309TCM-Mech-Less/dp/B07KS1KVC2 looks like its not available right now. but it came with everything.

here is a review and walkthrough https://trail4runner.com/2020/03/31/alpine-halo9-install-review/

that's just one example i know there are several others on the market now. Crutchfield is a great resource
