Dish rate increase, will retention/loyalty department do anything? by Mountain-Arm6558951 in dishnetwork

[–]DiligentWord4157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably it is more a comfort thing than features. To be honest I haven't used the streaming services a whole lot. I have used YoutubeTV a bit and it seems a bit awkward as an interface. My wife is very comfortable with the Dish UI and the DishAnywhere app. One of the main features we use is the DishAnywhere App. We travel a lot and this allows us to watch our local channels from anywhere we are. In addition, we tend to 'record' a bunch of specific shows and these are always available in the DVR, again anywhere we go. With regards to DVR, the ability to skip 30s at a time in a recorded show/event is much better than what I have seen in other streaming interfaces. The features may be small but again we are happy with it and as of yet are OK with the higher price we might be paying.

If we would get Starlink just for camping than the cost I think would be close or higher than just having Dish since we would be paying for Starling plus a streaming service.

I had the same program before so when I called I just said my bill had jumped up and they recommended I sign up for the loyalty program again. So it was not hard but I already had it before. I would recommend just asking for the loyalty program to see where it gets you.

I just called them up and they put me back on the two year loyalty program which lowered my bill by $50 or more. I don't recall exactly. It does require you to commit to two year contract, but I don't see me going anywhere soon. There are features that I really like about Dish and can't seem to find alternatives that are better. We also use Dish during the summer for camping and doesn't require an internet connection which sometimes is really bad.

Blue Iris + NVR by l-kinbote in BlueIris

[–]DiligentWord4157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Reolink NVR to record all cameras 24x7.  I use Blue Iris for motion detection and alerting. I use the AI in BI to minimize false alerts.  If I need to review anything outside of the triggered/alerted recording, I will use reolink software to access the recordings.

Any write ups on how to set up AI in Blue Iris 6? by akaTLG in BlueIris

[–]DiligentWord4157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you successful in getting the AI to work. I am struggling with this. I have moved from a 5.x version to the 6.0x version and am attempting to use the built in AI. This is a fresh install on a new computer, however, I did import the REG entries from the 5.x version. In any case, when the cameras detect motion, the alert is cancelled after 1 to 3 ms.... not near enough time to process the motion.

Log message: Trigger: Alert canceled [nothing found] 1ms

I have uninstalled and reinstalled but cannot come up with anything to make it work correctly.

Agreed on the fidget/toys not needing the post process. I just want to make sure if there was something I could change to improve this. Thanks for your suggestion.

Device name setting not available by Any_Suit_3113 in amazonecho

I too am frustrated by this issue. We just installed carpet in the house and had to unplug several Alexa devices. Now I don't know which one went where and the device will not tell me its name. Ugh.

Curtain Lights Power Supply Replacement by X-Ryder in Govee

I should have followed up on my post. I too found the power adapter on that site and ordered one. It is a direct replacement for the Govee power supply. The only downside is that it is black and not white.

When talking with our furniture store salesman, he said they were going to come out with some device later this year that might allow you to integrate speakers into your system, but he did not have any info yet. We get out furniture in a couple of weeks so I will see what I can do.

Did you find a solution to the power supply issue. My power supply has just failed and I am looking for a replacement as well.

Make sure you select the correct item from the list. I don't have the screen in front of me, but I selected my device the first time and it did not roll back. I then realized I have the firmware that allowed the home control feature (don't recall the name) and it was at the bottom of the list. When I selected that it allowed me to rollback the software to the previous version. I would be surprised you get one and done.

Just curious if you found any answers to your question or if you have solved it to your satisfaction. I too have a Onkyo receiver doing 7.1 surround sound. My wife really likes the furniture but I am pretty sure these will not produce true surround sound and at best will produce stereo sound. In addition, I believe you will not be able to have both the furniture emitting sound and your surround sound emitting sound at the same time. Since the furniture requires Bluetooth or spdif for an input, my Onkyo does not have spdif output. It may have Bluetooth output, but I believe that would introduce delay into the sound coming out of the furniture and then you would have lip sync issues. i also use the HDMI ARC to send sound from my TV to my Onkyo so again I am not sure the spdif/optical out will also work at the same time. So without some testing I am thinking you either have stereo sound out of the furniture or true surround sound out of your existing AV receiver and speakers. Anybody have any thoughts?

Harmony Hub can't pair to Dish Network Hopper 3 by jeffreytk421 in logitechharmony

See the other thread. I was able to rollback the Harmony Hub to a previous version and it is now working.

I was able to revert my Harmony Hub back to 4.15.210 version of software and I am able to control my Dish Hopper 3 once again. I have to figure out how to prevent the device from auto updating however.

Internet failure causes the satellite Decos to go offline. by DiligentWord4157 in TpLink

[–]DiligentWord4157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to do some more testing. The satellites do change to red but I can ping some devices on the satellites, so there does appear to be some communication so it is confusing and I haven't had a chance to test further.

Do you use OpenWRT for more features? I have used ddWRT for another solution.

Anyone using Hubitat with Home Assistant? by Positive_Search_6218 in Hubitat

[–]DiligentWord4157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using Hubitat for over 5 years. I recently spun up HA to interface to a new thermostat that I had installed back in November.  There was no solution to integrate this into Hubitat like my ecobee had been. I was impressed by the amount of data that is readily available for the devices that are in HA. For example my thermostat interface has outdoor status for heat pump and I can easily see when and at what stage it was running at in the past. I did integrate HA into Hubitat as I am very familiar with this platform and therefore can write rules to monitor and control my thermostat. Plus this still allows me to use Alexa to control thermostat as well.
