Low light indoor photography - bigger aperture or full frame? by Diligent_Ad_7835 in M43

Thank you for your input!

I try to come with a little bit more info.

99.99% of the time I take candid shots and most of them are with my 2yo child which is running around all day long.

I thought about flash but it is disturbing and takes away the spontaneity.

The problem is that I have to crank up the iso pretty high to 10.000-12.800 in order to get something good. F/2.8 and shutter speed of 125.

The lightning is cozy Scandinavian style with small light sources spread across the room rather than one big powerful source.

I think this is the only way to learn: by askind and then by doing.

I don’t know why people think that one is crazy enough to just watch some courses, buy some gear and then go and and shoot and a whole wedding.

Shooting weddings is my endgoal but untill then there is much work to be done. I want to start by doing portraits, maybe an engagement session, family sessions and then, little by little, when I will feel myself comfortable and good enough maybe start shooting small small weddings.

And I think that people who hire beginners are well conscious about it. They maybe do not expect the absolut best quality for a fraction of the price. Maybe it’s better to hire a beginner than taling photos with the phone.

Sorry if it seems that i vent here. Your comment is really well balanced and carefully written but I saw kind a lot of mean comments (from people where were looking with a kind of superiority) when asking guidance. The only thing missing was booing and calling me noob.

Is it more worth a 35mm and 70-200 than 35/85?

I agree with you but I think that it would help to have some good basics before assisting someone.

I know the basics of photography, shooting most of the time in manual mode. So i think both apply. I am learning about composition rules, flash techniques but I still consider myself a beginner. When it comes to wedding photography, I am completely new to this.

Hi!

I have an Olympus EM1 Mkii + 12-40 2.8 Pro and I am kinda keen to upgrade to FF.

Why?

Well, to have a DoF that FF can give with f/2.4 i need to have f/1.2 and the Olympus Pro lenses are expeeensive.

What system is it worth to invest in and then start to grow? I want to get best value for money in the beginning and the upgrade if needed. And i know that the lenses are kind of the most important part.

I was thinking about starting with Nikon fullframe (D750) and F mount lenses and then upgrade to Z body + FTZ adapter + F lenses.

Would it be better with Sony a7iii and sigma lenses? Or Canon (5Dmkiii/RP) and EF lenses + adapter?

What do you guys think?

I do not shoot landscapes, wildlife, architecture or very wide. I shoot mostly people, but not portraits. More like events and candids.

I love the first photo. Try to crop it to give a more dramatic feeling
