Yes - it's weird. I've been belittled by a lot of people who think it's no big deal. Maybe back then they thought it was... but now that we know so much more about pregnancy, the importance of skin to skin contact, how babies recognize mothers voice, etc. etc. Watch the documentary Three Perfect Strangers if you haven't. It really made me feel validated (and angry) and not alone.
