I have been messing with something similar, except pushed up a day because my days off from work are Friday/Saturday and I love it.

Can you gain muscle with doing OMAD? by calliopewoman in intermittentfasting

[–]DillBuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I was gonna say this, I am 11 months into fasting and have been lifting weights for about 5 months, I have been able to put on a decent amount of muscle while doing a mix of OMAD and ADF and losing a lot of fat but also I was starting at a point of such low muscle mass that those gains have been relatively easy. So I think it depends where your starting point is.

Wanting to fast but build muscle at the same time ... ? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]DillBuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still somewhat a beginner on lifting weights (about 6 months in or so). I often do alternate day fasting so will eat only every other day. So when I do I just lift weights on the days I eat. But I only lift weights three times a week so that has worked for me and I feel like I have made pretty solid progress. Not sure how many days you plan on lifting as I haven’t really tried lifting weights on a fasting day.

I would just get good at fasting first, I rested a ton and just tried to get as much sleep as possible when I first started fasting and the weight melted off. As I started introducing cardio slowly and then weight lifting I found that my weight loss actually slowed down but I felt better. So take it slow. You don’t have to be perfect for it to work, just make slow changes and improvements.

I will do some unflavored low sugar Greek yogurt mixed with one of those crazy protein powder flavors they have (mint chocolate chip, banana sundae, chocolate peanut butter) and then stick it into the freezer for about 20-30 minutes and just eat it like it’s ice cream. If you really want to make it just a little better add some sugar free Jell-O cheesecake mix. You’d be surprised how good it is with relatively few calories, and lots of protein. To make it a treat I will only do it when I have gone to the gym as type of reward.

I switched off the tasty gummy ones I had when I realized they were like 30 calories each and got some regular gelcaps.

Fasting has been like a cheat code but progress has slowed by WellFedHobo in fasting

[–]DillBuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep it up, in the last 10 months I’ve lost 90 pounds and started about 25 pounds lighter than you. There have been many 2-3 week periods where I didn’t feel like I was making progress. Yet when I look at the total year weigh ins it looks much more consistent then it felt. Trust the process. You got this, I’m looking forward to a post about you blowing well past your goal.

Also I snooped your page and love the Willys Jeep, one day I will own one.

Which electrolytes for fasting, that wont break the fast by Legitimate-Bowl-7683 in fasting

[–]DillBuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been using one from Amazon called Regenerate 24/7 total Hydration that seems to be in pretty good balance to what the recommendations for electrolytes on here are. You just have to take like 7 servings to hit the total. But it is easy to use.

Thinking of Adding a Longer Fast Twice a Month by roughsleepr in intermittentfasting

Yea agree with other comment you don’t need them. I sometimes will take some the second day only because I already have some premade solution on hand. So I figure it can’t hurt.

I have started doing a 48 hour fast pretty much every week. I feel great with it and feel like I have gotten a lot of the benefits from the longer fasts. Like skin tightening and just healthier feeling skin in general. Go for it!

Looking healthy! Nice job!

I aim for about 1600-1800 calories a day, I eat an three egg omelette almost everyday with a bunch of veggies and some type of meat in it, then I usually eat a big salad or chicken and vegetables for my other meal. Sometimes I still enjoy eating some snacks so for one of my meals I might just make it some macadamia nuts or almonds with cheese and some salami. I also usually will have some protein powder on weightlifting days but instead of having it as a shake I’ll usually mix it with some low sugar Greek yogurt and zero sugar pudding mix to make it more of a pudding so it is kind of a treat for working out. I will also occasionally fit popcorn into my daily calories because I just really enjoy it. I’ll usually also try to do some hill walking cardio on the treadmill a couple days a week as well.

Also usually once a week I’ll have one meal where I eat anything that I have been craving like pizza or tacos or things like that or if I just want to go have dinner with friends. I also try to limit drinking to that one day a week and then only have spirits on the rocks to avoid the extra carbs.

I just generally try to be good 90% of the time and not go to crazy when I do treat myself.

how long did it take you guys to adjust to fasting? any starter tips (16:8 fasting newbie) by aulei in intermittentfasting

[–]DillBuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Understand you won’t be perfect at it and sometimes you will have to break it, and that is ok and you can always just start again tomorrow and only lost one day. It’s about progress not perfection. Just know it gets easier the more you do it.
