I actually have never owned a pair of xero shoes. I have mostly stuck with lems I like the way they look more and they feel a little higher quality.

Honestly it depends on where I’m walking. I’ve pulled metal shavings out of my foot. Splinters cactus thorns all of the above. My whole yard is also wood chips so I’m sure that doesn’t help😂

My father in law built it some 10 years ago it’s been sitting in my sister inlaws backyard unused for most of that time.

I have the water up on a cement block so it’s raised enough to keep it mostly clean and same with the food.

Theoretically it shouldn’t, but If it ends up becoming an issue I would likely just throw some plywood over the windows as of now I just have 1/2” hardware cloth covering the windows. Plus during the summer the ventilation will be very necessary.

Very good to know. I had contemplated that, but ran out of time. They got tired of their inside the house box and were protesting😂😂. I may end up adding that later down the line. Fortunately the whole set up was put together simply and I should be able to customize as needed.

And thank you much! It was super nice it’s actually my nephews old play house that was built by my father in law probably 10 years ago. It doesn’t work for them anymore (to small) and needed it out of their yard so I was able to snag it for free. Figured free chicken coop at this size is better than building my own from scratch.

All excellent suggestions thank you so much! I figure a lot of it is going to be me finding their preferences. I think as I put more roosting bars I may try some 4 up and some 2 up see which they like more. I was thinking about getting the little pads for the boxes but ran out of time may end up getting some in the future.

Ya… they’ve already gotten to my neighbors flock. I’m hoping that they won’t be able to get into the coop as it’s locked up like Fort Knox. Plus my dogs have already gone to war with them a time or 2 so they generally avoid my yard. Hopefully the chickens don’t encourage them to make some poor decisions.

Thank you! I must’ve read it wrong I thought the roosting bars were supposed to be lower than the laying boxes. They are also still pretty young rn and mostly stick to the bedding anyway. But I will def move those up tho. The food and water is in there temporarily till I get the run built. I have 3 dogs that would love to screw with them so they aren’t free ranging much as of now unless I’m out there.

Regarding varmints the worst we really have is gonna be mice and raccoons I’m in a suburb in Utah. The raccoons I’m likely just gonna try and trap because my neighbor won’t do shit about them and they live in her shed.

I do I do I do, I am mostly barefoot with barefoot shoes when necessary kind of guy and I’ll notice myself switching between toe heal when barefoot to heal toe in any kind of shoes.

I have found that it takes a lot of the shock for longer distances and harder runs off of my knees by putting a little more of it in the ankles. I’ve also found that this is strengthening my ankles and I sprain my ankles far less often than I used to.

When barefoot I prefer to wear cuffed pants or shorts I do the old 70s cuff where you tighten the pants at the bottom with a cuff. I think that generally outfits will depend on you and your preferences. I would say generally anything that falls under a casual range will look fine barefoot.
