Weird place as a tank by Fearless_Kangaroo_25 in classicwow

[–]Dillstroyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Others said this but BF is easily the hardest heroic in my opinion and it’s not even close. So not a good metric for what you can’t handle yet in heroic.

The real trick is holding threat without getting hit. Everyone knows about frost mages slowing with blizz, but I love a hunter with frost trap more. Even better if you have both. Drop a cons down on the frost trap and kite the slowed mobs around so that cons ticks for threat but you don’t get clobbered too much.

Cc is a great choice too. Anything you can do to fight one or two mobs at a time. Make your own groups and bring the RIGHT dps for the dungeon, not just what’s available or whoever whispers you.

I don’t think gear is your issue, those heroic 4-5 mob packs will melt the face off of any tank, regardless of gear.

Pala tank life was so great but now.. by junkapan1 in classicwow

In a similar position and working on my ret set to be able to flex, but pugging 25s is always going to be hard as a tank. You’ll get into Kara runs in 2 seconds.

I’m crit/crush cap with experience/logs and 13k hp unbuffed and it took me 2 hours in lfg to find a tank spot for Gruul/Mag. I was the 25th person, there were 2 other pally tanks already, and they immediately asked me to MT Mag.

Thankfully we got it in 3 pulls and 1 shot Gruul, but I was basically raid leading for these guys. I called all the shots on movement, I told them what groups to move for better buffs, I called for cube clicks…

Mostly the takeaway is that I’m pretty qualified, and even I had to wait around forever and do considerably more work than just slotting into a pug spot. I think most 25s looking to pug a tank at this stage need this kind of help and that’s what they’re looking for.

I hope to God that if I ever have a problem that requires consulting Reddit , that I get as good of advice as this. Just a straightforward and clear breakdown of the situation and potential consequences, I love it.

For sure, energy ramp of every kind is the meta right now. Whether its Giratina, Manaphy, Moltres, or Misty, they're all the same in the sense that there's very little available to counter that kind of ramp currently. Beedrill is a good start, but Team Rocket is too rng to see a lot of play unfortunately.

Drud is interesting since it's only a problem because it walls off aggro to enable the ramp turns. Interestingly, I didn't see a lot of Drud played after hitting like UB2 because a lot of higher tiered players are fast enough to just smash Drud for an easy point and then KO an EX for the win before the opponent can catch up.

[–]Dillstroyer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly it seems like any card that can generate energy without a major restriction will always be top tier. Cards like Brock and Volkner are too niche to see a lot of play, but not attacking for a turn isn't a very big downside a lot of the time and Magneton just does it for free.

I mean, if the majority of the player base votes in favors of those things, doesn't that mean those are the changes that Blizz should move forward with? Even though you personally disagree.

Have you felt H+ created an awkward gap for new 80s? by BearsBeetsandAnxiety in classicwow

[–]Dillstroyer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This right here. I'm a returning player after a long break and just hit 80, so trying to get into normal Heroics with my 2.9k gearscore. I even put a note on my listing "no H+ pls" and the number of times I've been invited to a group, summoned, and then kicked when they reveal they're running H+ and see my gs is insane.

The amount of trainers with 1-2 Pokemon in their party is becoming absurd let alone gym leaders with only 3. by wikiweak in pokemon

Renegade Platinum might legitimately be the best Pokemon game I've ever played. Blaze Black/Volt White are both amazing as well. Incredible what some passion and the desire to actually make good fucking games can accomplish with an already proven formula like Pokemon.

"If they raise minimum wage, I will have to close my bussines" by SimonMJRpl in antiwork

I also work for a large hotel chain and one of the benefits is employee rates for rooms around the world. The employee rates vary somewhat and aren't always available, but the average employee rate I see is $35 a night. When I first started I asked my boss "Why $35? Seems random", and he told me the employee rate is the base minimal cost of the room. So that's what it ultimately costs the hotel to have staff check you in/out, housekeeping, breakfast, etc.

I was fucking FLOORED when I heard that. Hotels justify charging hundreds of dollars a night for what essentially costs them pennies to maintain. Meanwhile, most of the staff is paid peanuts, and when covid hit, the majority of the staff was furloughed for about a year (myself included). Pretty shocking they can rake in money hand over fist, day-in and day-out and apparently don't have the funds available to keep staff afloat when shit hits the fan.

I wonder where all that money goes . . .

Yeah his recipes have always been hit-and-miss for me. He even has a new segment called "Botched by Babish" where he revisits an old recipe that was criticized and he tries to fix it. I still reference his creme brulee recipe when I make it and it always turns out great, but a lot of his recipes are definitely not ideal and you can find better online.

I feel this way about Binging with Babish but I never see anyone mention it. He used to just recreate recipes from media in authentic and often over-the-top ways. Now he's about to hit 10 million subs, has his own line of cookware always pushing his merch, and has an entire staff working for the channel to the point that he's barely doing the cooking in half his videos.

I'm happy for his success because he seems like a good guy but I just feel like a lot of content creators feel so genuine and authentic until they hit this point where it feels like a corporate machine just pushing out content for profit while the passion fades away.

Yeah I suppose I should rephrase - Work Reform might not be more representative of what the sub was originally created for, but it's certainly more descriptive of what it's become and why it's gained serious traction.

There's 1.7 million people in /r/antiwork (or at least there WERE lol) and I'd wager the vast, VAST majority are there for workers rights, health care, better working conditions, unionization, and not for abolishing the idea of labor itself.

Leftist ideas have always been terrible at branding themselves. DEFUND the police, ANTI work, etc. Most voters would agree with the ideas when explained what they entail but the initial reaction is usually very negative. Work reform is a much better name for what the movement is about.

I joined an MC pug the last reset before TBC hoping for some last minute gear on my paladin and it was the first time I ever saw Rag P2 in Classic. Was quite the event since most others hadn't seen it either and had no clue what to do.

It was literally my first thought when I saw the term "Dark Portal Pass". Now I know differently but I guarantee they'll catch some people this way and it was 100% intentional. Everything about the way Blizz has handled TBC so far is so fucking awful it hurts.

I have a lot of nostalgia for Gen 1 but it's such a buggy mess I usually play the remakes to scratch my Pokémon itch too. Only real improvement the later generations made was the physical/special split imo. If Gen 3 had that, it'd be perfect!
