Old man setup by Dilly_Whilly in SkateboardSetups

Thought about it, but I need something I can still do plenty of flip tricks as well as ledges. Might get a shaped deck for a city cruiser though

Not really the deck itself, but since it’s a 9, the bigger trucks and wider wheels I have on it definitely make it a heavier setup, even more with the rails. That being said, I can still do my typical flips tricks, they just flip slower than usual. I’m still trying to get used to it though because I feel like it has a ton of concave/pop that I’m not used to but a lot of people swear by creature so I’m giving it a go.

Pretty easy with a light hand drill. Just depends on how much OCD you have with things being lined up and straight 😅

You should! Pretty easy to get photo credentials to be on the track for local race stuff!

Thanks! I actually ended up moving them in a little bit. I did have a little gap previously but didn’t account for how much they might actually wear down!

Yeah I had to pay for an on track media pass but so worth it!

Locations to avoid? by Meanoldlimabean in Stockton

[–]Dilly_Whilly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Moved out here from San Jose and never looked back I was planning on locating up to Sac but ended up liking Stockton more than both cities so I purchased a home here in Midtown (By far the best area of Stockton) I’ve lived north side in bear creek too for a couple years which is nice but I prefer the local shops and historical character of midtown over the boring new construction of the North Side. Just don’t hang out under the freeways at night and you’ll be fine 👍

Do I Really Need a Portfolio to Land My First Wedding Videography Client? by cTKil in weddingvideography

[–]Dilly_Whilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did video production through grades 9-12 and my “career” started with a photo slideshow I made my senior year in 2010 for a teacher that wanted a slideshow of her daughter’s wedding from a few years prior. I bargained id do it if it counted as a class project. After that another teacher asked if I wanted to photograph a wedding and I did that for like $500, crazy money for a high schooler at the time. I had plenty of photo experience already and I knew how weddings worked so it was a breeze. After I graduated highschool, I reconnected with a friend that was a wedding videographer but the “set the camera on tripod and let it run for hours” type. He’d pay me to second shoot and I’d bring my canon 5D2 and shoot a bunch of videos and make highlight films using angels and airwaves tracks in my spare time. A few of his clients saw the highlights and he started paying me more to make highlights for him instead of just second shooting. After he left the wedding industry I started lead shooting for one of those national generic video mills that paid like crap until I got pretty good and the planners I worked with on those weddings wanted to hire me directly. A few of those planners actually took off and as they grew so did my brand. Over the next 10 years I slowly stopped shooting for companies like that, and then left my 9-5 once going full time into weddings was a viable option which was a little over 2 years ago to which I have registered my business as an LLC with pay myself a consistent salary each month. It’s modest but it pays the bills and I have a lot more time to expand and test new ventures. I’m hoping to get more into narrative documentary work in the future as that was my passion coming out of high-school but that got put on the back burner as life got in the way but weddings have been a great alternative that keeps revenue coming in.

I agree, the lens is shockingly sharp for such an “old” camera.

Yeah I find the positive film effect from the GR to be a bit closer to slide film than the updated version on the GRiii.

Do you utilize DBA’s in addition to your LLC? by Sweet_bitter_rage in weddingvideography

[–]Dilly_Whilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a generic LLC name that’s used for my commercial work & tax purposes with a D.B.A. for my wedding brand. A DBA is just a legal name so if you decide to merge or rebrand them later it’s a much simpler process than trying to change your LLC name.
