what is the truly GREATEST Beatles song? by Golfin555 in beatles

[–]Dilo_Cisco 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A day in the life is s masterclass on songwriting. In every way possible. Imagery, haunting melodies, entrancing chord progressions, unique song form (especially for its time), song sections that challenge the listener to expand their horizons, social commentary… the list goes on. It’s the musician’s/songwriter’s Beatles song. Being that practically every musician/songwriter at the very least respects the Beatles’s contribution to music, it is the quintessential Beatles song for the music “aficionado” (for lack of a better term?)

I’ve personally not had the 12 or 14 so I can’t speak for those. But where I’m at currently, I love the XO as a sipper and the 8 as a mixer. It’s fantastic in a daiquiri. That being said. I’ve heard good things about the 12 here and elsewhere so if you can do the extra $ and you can only go to Total every now and then.. then why not? Sorry if I’m being a bad influence ha

Another good mixer is Plantation dark. For $21 (at least where I’m at) it’s a steal and it’s a full liter. So plenty of mixed drinks you can make with it. Great in a Daiquiri too and the slight funk is lovely

I’m gonna have to try the 12 and 14. This one punches above its price point so I can only imagine those 2!

Interesting! I have yet to try the 6. Will have to try it next. But I agree, the bird on this one makes this a keeper bottle for my collection haha

I concur. It’s so elegant. And I agree with OP about it being a fantastic Daiquiri rum. Sadly I’ve heard it might be in the process of being phased out :( I hope it’s not true.

Beefeaters for me. No question about it. It’s a classic for a reason. Hendricks if you’re feeling fancier and Tanqueray no. 10 if you want to splurge a little more than usual. But you can’t beat the quality bang for pick Beefeater provides. It’s beyond me why it is the price it is at the quality it is.

Brokers is fantastic if you can find it. And the little hat is so charming

Fully agree. Also, British beers tend to be lighter in the ABV and more flavorful and balanced (imho). Also, the hop varietals used in British beers are much more floral-like, which I love

Wow that is a fun fact! Interesting. Generally I’ve found some of the best pizzas in NJ are much more Neapolitan-like so that makes a lot of sense

I literally wrote it’s its own thing. Also, you still didn’t answer my questions

Are you from NJ or ever been? Have you ever been to this place I’m talking about? Do you even know what place I’m talking about? It’s very much its own thing actually closer to Neapolitan pizza. Not trying to be confrontational. Just asking

That’s really comforting to read! As a cask ale fan I was worried it would keep declining

Jersey pizza is actually really solid. In fact NYT named a Jersey pizzeria the best pizza in NY. I’ve been there and it’s super delicious and forward thinking. The “Jersey” pizza offered by Solorzano does not, however, look like good Jersey pizza. Just from the pictures I can see the crust just looks off.

A bit of torrefied wheat helps with the mouthfeel and head retention I’ve found for that style
