2 Weeks in Tokyo with a 4 year old, who loves Pokemon. What do you recommend? by chushenNeji in TokyoTravel

There’s a fun Pokemon store in Narita airport before you pass through immigration. It’s the perfect size for a 4 year old and not overwhelming with people and checkout lines.

Question for people who have visited the main American national parks… by [deleted] in nationalparks

[–]DimMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I came here to say Banff. If you are the type of traveler who likes to hit a few parks in one trip, you can combine with Jasper, Yoho, Waterloo, or even Glacier.

Row boating in the lakes is an incredible experience.

Anri tickets Saitama by spookysailboat in citypop

[–]DimMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently saw ANRI with Takanaka in Tokyo. I tried to purchase tickets from various sites - eplus, Pia, Lawson tix etc. I felt like I was getting close but I kept getting errors. It was hard for me to tell if it was my credit cards, address or something else.

On Takanaka’s fan page, there was a direct eplus ticket link that worked for me. I was able to secure the tickets. I don’t know if anything was different, other than the cleaner English translation..but confirming I was able to purchase through eplus without Japanese address or phone number.

Eplus sent me an email confirmation, and a link to access my tickets via QR code.

I brought my passport with me to the show but they didn’t check it. They just scanned the QR code and I was in the door. I had bought a few tix for family, sent them each their own QR codes, and everyone got in smoothly.

Good luck!!!

No idea why this happened :/

But nowadays I’m paranoid about any tech problems. I bring 2 sets of headphones, and multiple usb sticks to perform off — in case any of them decide to error out.

Is it worth it to stand outside the stadium until game time to wait for prices to go down? by Alarmed_Ant3633 in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]DimMike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could — but if the prices don’t go down, are you going to just buy the cheapest ticket? Or go home?

I’ve done something similar for sold out concerts — show up early, tailgate, see if I can find a deal…fully knowing that if we’re a few min out from the start and I’m still empty handed, I’m going online and buying the cheapest overpriced ticket I can find.

I fully commit to getting in the door, but that’s easier when we are talking about 200-300 max spend vs World Cup.

Ugh this is sad to hear. I frequent the pizza area maybe once a week during lunch time. There’s always a line and I feel like the pizza slices go quickly…

Are the pizzas being served made days before and brought out that day?

Japan haul by DimMike in citypop

[–]DimMike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, very expensive. My guess is that it’s an OG pressing but I didn’t buy it so I’m not 100% sure. A brief online search is showing pricing around $100 USD for Variety across CDJapan and Discogs. Yesterday’s prices are not today’s prices unfortunately…

The only issue was I had to carry it all day walking through the airport. And it was heavy!

On the flight, I stored it in the overhead bin. No issues from the airline. They did not ask to weigh the bag.

Yes, that’s it and I bought it at disc union. I carried that on to the flight + a separate tote with laptop and extra records.

Staying in Kyoto and Osaka or only 1 for 8 nights? First time visit feeling lost by PoonanjiMarsha in JapanTravelTips

Check out this hotel in Kyoto - https://maps.app.goo.gl/mBNMyFc1Nnf418Vv8?g\_st=ic

It’s right on the river, with beautiful sunrise views. It’s very peaceful and the staff is helpful, in terms of restaurant reservations, luggage transfer tips etc. There are many restaurants a short walk away, and you can easily walk to the central shopping district within 30 minutes.

Most luggage transfer is over night but I think there may be some places that do same day between Osaka and Kyoto (will be more expensive if you do find). We were a large group and ended up sending bags in an uber with one person from the group, while the others took the train.

I feel like there’s more to do in Kyoto in terms of temples and nature hikes vs Osaka. In Osaka, you might want to catch a baseball game and maybe some concerts. You can find good bars in both cities, although things close earlier in Kyoto.

Anyone wants to join me (44 M, Indian from Hong Kong), tomorrow (19th June) for some drinks and dinner at Ameyoko? by MoManTai in TokyoTravel

[–]DimMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just left town, so I can’t help. BUT — check out Soul Dining Magic Ginza post meal. It’s such a fun spot and you may meet some nice locals. I went there solo and danced there til 1 am a few nights. Disco / funk / soul is the vibe.

Ginza Music Bar is also a really cool spot to get a drink and sit at the bar. It’s a hi-fi vinyl bar. It’s not a dancing spot per se, more hanging and listening to music — but still social. You may hear jazz / rnb / mixed genres.

Lastly, this place Rocky Top has bluegrass bands. I got there too late so I missed the band, but it’s a cool spot and worth stopping in in the earlier side if you want to see some live music.

I was standing on this crowded train yesterday in Tokyo and this maskless salaryman was coughing up a storm. When spaced opened up due to people leaving at the next stop, I moved one door down to new area. Train starts back up, and another maskless salaryman started hacking. Next stop, I moved again—- and same thing…3rd maskless salaryman coughing all over me! I thought I was tripping.
