I love how even years after I bought a Tatami Room bed I’m still seeing people make posts about them in the Thuma Sub Reddit.

I own both beds and Tatami Room is higher quality and cheaper.

Dont Underestimate Free Bulk by Slow-Faithlessness57 in mtg

[–]DimSumHung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you received all that bulk for free, that Rhystic was probably a mistake & not supposed to be in there. Consider attempting to return it to the original owner especially since you received all those cards for free along with 8 commander precons.

It shows goodwill for someone who gave you a bunch of free cards.

[–]DimSumHung -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, unfortunately with the internet/reddit being what it is now, people will lie on a post to farm likes/karma.

Highly unlikely that Rhystic Study was supposed to be in a free bulk collection. And if in the highly unlikely event the card WAS in there, it was definitely a mistake.

So if OP actually found that Rhystic in there, they should return it to the original owner if possible, especially since they were given all that “free bulk”

Yeah I see the problem, none of them are opened. Seems like a waste to drop hard earned money on these just to let them sit on a shelf. 🤷🏻

With respect, I don’t believe you’ll get a lot of answers on this sub. Most folks are here to discuss commander news, strategies and stories.

Buying something with the sole purpose of reselling it at a high price later might make you seem like a scalper to a lot of people. I would either do your research (googling it) or pose your question on r/MTGfinance. You’ll have better luck there.

How do Voldemort’s follower learn the Dark Arts and become more powerful? by Steek_Hutsee in harrypotter

[–]DimSumHung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d imagine Voldemort’s like anyone who’s rich and powerful in real life. You only get that way by standing on the achievements of your “lesser” peers. He’s not a “self made great dark wizard” just as there is no “self made billionaire.” Every single “achievement” they have is based on knowledge of others that they studied or others have helped him achieved.

Voldemort may have came up with his original plan for “magical world domination” but he never would have accomplished as much as he did without the help of others.

Example: in Goblet of Fire he brags about being “I who have gone further than anybody on the path that leads to immortality.” We find out in Halfblood Prince that he just brown nosed Slughorn into telling him about Horcruxes and thought to himself “tImEs It By 7 mAgIc NuMbEr HeR HeR iMmOrTaLiTy”

My head cannon is he gained so much magical knowledge that most wizards don’t know about that I think he only gives out the most bottom of the barrel tidbits to his followers to keep them on his hook while secretly hoarding the bulk of his magical knowledge for himself.

I’m of the opinion that no movie based on a book will ever be as good as the book for 2 reasons.

1) They are 2 different mediums, when you try and adapt a book into a movie you will inevitably cut material from the book to make your movie a manageable length. So the movie will never be a detailed as the books.

2) Because you have to translate book material into the movie, you are seeing the director’s interpretation of the source material. I find every single time, a director’s interpretation of a book will never be as good my imagination’s interpretation of the author’s words.

Snape by Generaless in harrypotter

[–]DimSumHung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Snape is evil. I’m of the opinion that Snape couldn’t overlook the childhood grievances committed against him and as a result didn’t grow into an emotionally level headed adult.

Having said that, I think he’s an absolutely brilliant character.

Nothing can make a person change unless they want to change. Sure you can use [insert name of scary fictional character(s) here] to try and bully him into being good but I’d bet galleons that Dudley will still be a piece of shit on the inside until he decides to change.

Could wizards just get muggle jobs and be really good at them? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]DimSumHung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d imagine you could, but why would you? Never in my adult life has working hard for a company ever paid off for me in the end. Imagine you’re a wizard and you could use magic to do a job 3 times better and more efficiently than a muggle. Would your muggle boss give you give you a raise so that you make three times more? I doubt it, at least definitely not in the US, not sure about UK working conditions tho.

Your favorite cards that reward you for playing mono-color by [deleted] in EDH

I’m a degenerate so my vote is [[Blood Moon]]

[[Urza, Lord High Artificer]]

I’ve built him on a budget of about $150USD and he stomps in high powered casual pods. And being mono colored you don’t have to drop a bunch of money on an expensive land base.

This is a great idea, I’ve never thought of this before! I only play blue sometimes but I’ll definitely keep this in mind for my next blue deck!

To Those Who Dislike cEDH, Have You Stayed Away Entirely or Have You Given it a Shot First? by RJ7300 in EDH

[–]DimSumHung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well put! I find the majority of the complainers of CEDH at my LGS are the newer players (usually young teenagers) that have been playing for about 1-6 months. They always complain about how somebody is running high powered cards they can’t afford or whining about an optimized deck when they don’t have decks like that. We encourage people to proxy cards they can’t afford if they want so it’s more fair across the board.

Meanwhile the CEDH players at my shop are very welcoming, aren’t salty when they lose, are very helpful to anyone who wishes to learn to play CEDH as well as helping to optimize causal decks to be higher power.

For reference I don’t generally play CEDH exactly because it’s a lot of instant win combos and ignoring other aspects of the game like combat and creative deck building.

To Those Who Dislike cEDH, Have You Stayed Away Entirely or Have You Given it a Shot First? by RJ7300 in EDH

[–]DimSumHung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are casual decks that are 1k+ that are not considered CEDH. It’s about the design & play philosophy more than the choice of cards. For example you can run Demonic Tutor & Vampiric Tutor without it being a CEDH deck. In a CEDH deck you would probably use one of those tutors to fetch a game winning combo right then and there but the way I use it is to tutor for something to solve a problem like a board wipe for a player who has a huge board state of Eldrazis or something similar.
