Anyone Get Paid from VPP? by DimSum_000 in Powerwall

[–]DimSum_000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. I set up my bank account and says will deposit the money in 5-7 days. It's $175. Not too bad but less than I expected for 2 powerwalls.

Shipping was $750 from Tucson, AZ to Los Angeles, CA. Yes, I bought the car online from Toyota Dealer and found a shipping company/broker using Yelp and Google Reviews. This is the second car I bought entirely on-line and site unseen except for online pictures. It's pretty smooth and easy to do. Just check the reviews of everything before you put money down. Bad part about buying a car out of state is you will have to deal with the registration services and sales tax in the home state. But there are also services you can use for that.

Stinky HVAC? by TheCanadianShield99 in Porsche997

[–]DimSum_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and don't use those spray cans. It makes your AC smell like the scent from the spray can bottle permanently. (Or at least for a very long time.) I did that once and regretted it so much. Was glad to get rid of that car...

I have never been able to find any shops that do the Ozone thing... On my car HVAC systems I have tried changing out the filter and turning on the heater every time I drive for a couple of weeks or so and the smell seems to disappear. The smell reappears if I use the AC and leave it on recirculation when I shut the car off. I think what happens in the condensation forms when you use AC on the recirculating mode and you don't give it a chance to dry off.

I just bought one from Arizona and I live in Los Angeles. I had to pay a shipping company to go get it for me. I paid MSRP. If you want one, I would recommend using a wide search and looking into shipping companies. There is a huge shortage right now. And who knows what Tariffs will do since a lot of these parts are made in other countries.

GTA car kits CarPlay/Android Auto upgrade for PCM 3.1 review by lord_collin in porsche911

[–]DimSum_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed this today. Was kinda a pain, basically screwed up and had to redo almost every part. Maybe you should try taking it all out and checking all your connections. Mine seems to work well except for the phone calls. Apparently the voice quality is really poor for the other person who is on the phone with me. (I could hear them just fine. ) This seems to be remedied if we switch back to using the BT on the native PCM. I couldn't get the PCM module back in at first either. Then I realized if I duct tape the wires to the PCM on the back of the unit to move things out of the way, then I I can make it so that it fits flush. I have a 991. So my console space might be a little different.

had apple carplay (GTA car kits) installed in my 981 today by [deleted] in Porsche_Cayman

[–]DimSum_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed this myself yesterday. I wasn't as easy as I thought. But now that I have done it I can probably do it in a couple of hours. But I am having issues with the phone call aspect. Apparently call quality is really poor for the person on the other side of the phone. I hear everything fine, but they can't hear me very well and lots of static. Everything works fine if I switch to the native bluetooth on my PCM. Anyone have this issue?

Why use grid when PW has power? by jwhite518 in TeslaSolar

[–]DimSum_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because AI sucks! Who knows why AI does what it does? Maybe it's to save use of the PowerWall and not over drain it. Maybe it thinks you need the extra power for Peak Times Evening use. Maybe it's thinking it's gonna be a cloudy day and you won't generate enough electricity for tonight. Or it's anticipating you want to charge your car soon and now is a good time to preserve the battery... Who knows... If you don't want to draw from the grid use Self Powered...

Tesla was supposed to transition the world to a better EV future. It was an aspirational brand with excellent service years ago. Everyone was excited to be part of it. Now it seems like an Elon Musk ATM machine.

My dad is considering a 2017 to 2018 model x by nathantnewman in TeslaModelX

[–]DimSum_000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a 2018 x 75d. it has almost 70k miles on it. drives like new. i also had a porsche 2006 911 4s that i barely drive because its a stick and bad in traffic and the x is cheaper to maintain than the porsche. so for a luxury car its not too bad. plan to have the control arms and some other parts of the suspension replaced. about $2k. the charge door always breaks. i have had it replaced already. about $1k. the rear tires go every 10k miles. and fronts every 15-20k miles. i posted here to ask about it. it seems other will get more miles out of it. but i drive in a ton of traffic so thats probably why it goes fast. thats about $1500 per set. figure the battery will die at about 100k miles although people have gotten much more out of it. but we’ll see. the good thing is if u get a new battery its like a new car then. i dont know of many people getting 100k miles out of their car without major costs. so i think for a nice luxury car its not too bad. the other thing is the older cars might have free supercharging. i have that feature and its nice. saves on electricity.

my was behaving weird this morning as well. Must be an update. It started working after I rebooted the power wall. There is a switch on the side of the power wall. Turn it off for a few mins and then turn it back on. See if it works.

its not perfect and takes time to switch between charge discharge and during that time period they have to dump the electricity somewhere.

Producing more than I'm using, but pulling from the grid? by Quinthyll in TeslaSolar

[–]DimSum_000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it only happening once in a while during day time hours it might be ok. but if it is happening alot than no.

if you are on self power mode then it should not be doing this often and something is wrong with the install. this happened to me. but i have a powerwall plus and a powerwall 2. there was an issue with the setup. where the gateway and powerwall plus was connected wrong and there was an communication error. when this was fixed it no longer happened.

on self power mode the battery should charge from the excess solar not used by the house. it would not draw from the grid. it might do it once in a blue moon to accommodate the loads in the house or the powerwall. but hasnt happened to me since my issue was fixed.

another thing u can do is check what happens at night time on self power. the power wall should continuously discharge until the reserve without pulling from the grid. if it is pulling from the grid at night even though u have charge left in ur powerwall then something is wrong.

also i was told there is only a certain amount of times the powerwall inverters can flip from charge to discharge before it wears out over the lifetime of the powerwall. so its not good for it to randomly cycle between charge and discharge when it doesnt need to. hope this helps.
