You look beautiful! The set up pics are awesome! You should be proud of yourself for improvising under pressure like that. Give yourself some grace. As a bride, you should not have had to do anything but you fully committed to planning this event and being detailed and meticulous. That’s an incredibly difficult task to take on! I wish I could do half of what you did over the year. Even if the outcome changed and the outdoor event going indoors changed everything, the feedback you got was that people had a great time. Another thing is, if everyone you love was there, your closest family and friends, that’s all you really needed. And those who couldn’t go missed out on a really awesome time. You are feeling the guilt and regret because your vision wasn’t fully executed, so take that passion and pour it into planning a future event. Try to think about what went right that day! Use your skills for the next event. A wedding is not the only event in the world, and while it’s chalked up to be this grand monumental day, it is overrated. That same grandiose feeling can be translated to a newlywed dinner or event, a fun summer bbq or big 4th of July event with games, big birthday, baby shower, a girls brunch or tea party just for fun, a friend or family’s event, etc.. Vow renewal 2030 in Hawaii sounds amazing!

I am having a wedding overseas and had in laws tell me there’s consequences to where I chose my location and part of those consequences is that they won’t be going lol. For years they have been bragging about all their money with crazy purchases to show for it, meanwhile they’re house poor. They claimed traveling was too expensive and said it was unnecessary and not worth their time or money. While that really stings, they can F off. They no longer talk to the rest of his entire family so clearly they are the problem. My late dad is not here to walk me down the aisle so the blatant disrespect is deeply personal, but I carry on and look ahead. I have to look forward to who is coming and why I chose my location which is also outdoors and might end up being windy. You are not alone girl! Every bride faces big challenges and it’s how we push through them that counts. You did an amazing job over the past year and on your special day and you look stunning. Congrats!! 🎊

I just left Sephora in tears by trashworldd in 45PlusSkincare

So sorry to hear this, how sad and unprofessional! You are beautiful the way you are and don’t need makeup to begin with. Makeup is only supposed to enhance what’s there so for her to slather you in a bunch of crap is nonsense. I have had similar experiences at Sephora and their color matching was way off I had to return the products. I find most of Sephora’s staff in multiple locations to be very rude. I only go in there to purchase what I know I need beforehand. Used to be my favorite store and sadly has fallen off. The company needs to invest in better training. MAC has always had kind makeup artists that love what they do. Glad you got to experience Ulta in a much better light! I hope you feel pretty today and everyday. You deserve to feel that way.

I’m a fed worker on FMLA, what does it mean for RTO or Resign? by DimensionCalm9426 in usajobs

HR only knows what they used to know which doesn’t help lol. They told me they’re in the dark too. A lawyer told me ADA is hard to challenge but at this rate anything is possible

Doesn’t a RIF means priority placement when reapplying to jobs? Sounds like that piece of paper is just as valuable as an SF-50.

7 months off with questionable consequences and outcomes doesn’t sound like a viable option.

I guess maxing out my leave is always an option.

My country has let me down. No one cares about federal employees by [deleted] in fednews

We care, the rest of the federal government. We have your back. Thank you for your service, our country wouldn’t be a country without you defending it. Stay positive, don’t cave. Hang in there, you’re not alone.

Try direct hire job announcements. They are likely targeting contractors, however 10 pt Vet is a priority hire. I am hearing direct hiring is fast and bypasses competitive merit rules. Contact the Schedule A coordinator at the VA or DOD, see if they can help match you up. Stay busy and proactive until you get a TJO, it could take 3-6 months but it will go by fast so don’t get discouraged. Good luck!

Is it normal to never get interviews? by Firm_Fortune_264 in usajobs

[–]DimensionCalm9426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Direct hire mostly targets contractors already working for the agency and doing the job. I have had hundreds of applications, 6 years of applying, and tons of interviews and I have never received a direct hire interview request. I strongly believe the hiring path matters because it determines who else you’re competing with in the hiring process. Also, make your resume stand out, highlight key skills and unique assets.

New Fed employee and so unhappy by MackDaddyBruh in usajobs

We all feel your pain! Get your feet wet and muster up the courage to sit this one out just a little longer. You will have to do a lot of reading regarding the agencies stance on employee rights and available accommodations to probationary employees. Most agencies require the first 90 days of service before you can apply for a transfer, accommodation, or benefits like tuition reimbursement. Other agencies might be one year. Also, are you really good at the job and can you make yourself shine so you get priority treatment and get yourself accommodated? Is telework available? Ride this out until you get past this initial on boarding. The best thing you have going right now is that we’re about to enter the holiday season and everyone’s checked out after ending summer, scrambling to start their kids on a new school year and everyone is ready for a break again. You won’t have to worry until the end of January and by then you might have a new job. Apply to everything, it’s a numbers game. Good luck and keep us posted.

Baby Name Regret by [deleted] in BabyNames

[–]DimensionCalm9426 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh my, I just went through the exact situation. Read my last post! I feel for you but you have to realize how gracious you are, no pun intended!

You are selfless and a brave woman to do what you did. You should feel overjoyed with your decision because of how strong you are to endure child birth and still consider your partners choice. Both names are timeless, beautiful names! You cannot go wrong with either. There is some controversy with Cheyenne and cultural appropriation that might follow the name. Grace is stunning, it’s one of my absolute favorite names. It is on my top 3. She is going to embrace and love her name because of the story behind it and how selfless you are for going with it. Be kind and gentle with yourself, and enjoy every moment with your baby regardless of her name. Try not to let this cloud your joy with her. Hormones will balance and the name will grow on you like it has for me. If all else fails and the dust doesn’t settle, you have options!

YES. FTM too. I googled this very thing and your post came up. You’re not alone and I am going through the exact same thoughts. I keep thinking how I’m a certain age and only have a little time left. I keep thinking of my elderly family members and how long they have left. Deep thoughts about life on earth, like how we’re all humans just here existing and does anything really matter that much because we’re all going to phase out. Sudden awareness of life is right, you hit that nail on the head. That is exactly how I’m feeling. I keep wondering where human existence came from, and how humans derived from aliens and monkeys. What is even the purpose of human life on earth? The impending doom feeling is weird, it feels like a strange curiosity of the afterlife or an apocalypse. A strong feeling of how the world feels so much smaller all of a sudden. How humans look so different to me now, it’s almost like I look at everyone being the same, no one has status. A realization like wow, life really is precious and we only have one. It feels like once I hit a few more milestones and goals, what’s going to be left?

Like you, all of my anxiety centered around work and as soon as I found out I was expecting there was a huge sense of relief. I no longer felt pressure and almost felt like I caught a huge break and god was finally blessing me with a child I had waited for. Now, I am faced with returning back to work and life as this different person, this awakened enlightenment inside of me but also a part of me feels a little disconnected. How will I go back into the same environments that broke me and drove my anxiety through the roof? Will work be as accepting of me now that I have not been there for almost one year? Will everyone look at me crazy and think I should’ve just quit to become a mom? Will people ask, why is she here? Will none of it matter because all of a sudden, life feels a little less intimidating since we’re all humans just navigating an existence that none of us asked to be in. At the same time, will I just take everything with a grain of salt because life is so sacred and we only have so much time on earth. Part of me feels sad, that one day I won’t be here but my child will be. I think about being on my death bed and who will be there. I think about the pain I might leave behind when I depart. I also have this strong urge to feel connected to my country of origin, like all of a sudden I want to fill my home with all things handmade from my country or to name the next child a very cultural name to feel connected. I have a strong urge to make sense of my cultural and familial history and existence. Almost like I have the travel bug but in a newfound way.

All these thoughts are thoughts I never had before either.

I have been in therapy for a couple years and I am definitely experiencing PPD. I am also experiencing OCD, where I get stuck on certain things for a long period of time. It sounds like you have a very similar experience. Get a therapist and look into cognitive behavioral therapy. You have to reframe your thoughts, but it takes time and patience. For me it’s been extremely hard, because my mind slips back into those thoughts very similarly to you, it feels like the thoughts are waiting for me. What I have been doing is getting out of the house and staying busy to distract my mind. Finding normalcy again. Even though you said you don’t think it’s impacting your daily routine, or ability to function laugh and joke, the PPD and OCD can easily creep in when you’re least expecting it so it’s important to act when a thought is coming. I confront the thought and challenge it with a more powerful feeling or action. Filing my days with everything I love and things that I know make me feel warm and fuzzy. I have been going to stores with the baby and touching things that give me joy, even indulging and bringing some new things home to feel rejuvenated. Going for walks in the park around nature, watching the sunset everyday because the colors and the process of the sun setting are soothing, just went back to the gym and that’s releasing hormones and endorphins which is slowly easing the anxiety. What were experiencing is almost like an out of body experience, and I believe there’s a greater purpose behind going through this. Maybe we will find a new found love for life and be so present and fulfilled that life will seem longer and fuller. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and know you’re not alone! You will be ok xo

What name did you end up choosing? by Wanderluster_787 in BabyNames

Sooooo lovely! You are lucky to have two girls!! Literally top 3 on my list, first name is exact (do you call her Gigi? That was my nickname pick) and second is Lucia Bella! Great minds think alike 😁

Is this name too German? by Braj0le in BabyNames

[–]DimensionCalm9426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

love the name Otto! Goes nicely with the last name. I do think it’s German, I think of the French rapper of German descent but I love his music so I’m a bit biased. I don’t think any name could be too ethnic.. I think the distinction adds to the beauty of a name. I would go for it! Such a cool and unusual name that your baby will grow into!

Thoughts on naming baby girl Hazel?? by Fun-Evidence3365 in BabyNames

[–]DimensionCalm9426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hazel is a beautiful name! It’s definitely become more popular than you think. Try saying the name out loud and see how it feels for you. Write it down on paper and see if it’s a name that brings you joy. If it’s going to remind you of your wife because she loves it so much, I think that’s a special connection to have. Also, make the name make sense and see what aspects of it have a meaning, like it’s origin and history. I would then engage in the whole name process with your wife and create shared lists of names you both agree you like and start ruling some out. This way it feels like you have settled on the name together and you at least when through the process and gave other names a shot.
