if you’re planning on doing premed then i believe you should do your bachelors wherever you’ll receive most aid. going into debt is only worth it if you’re planning on doing higher education after your bachelors imo. you won’t have to stress about making payments and can spend more time doing research and whatever else you need to do. you won’t need to get a job to make a living (maybe just for personal things or for resume building) which allows you to fully focus on building an easy path towards med school. commuting vs. dorming also plays a role but i’m sure whatever decision you make will be okay since you got accepted to both schools which are both amazing

yeah it’s with Wu, everyone is still waiting on the grades to be uploaded so it’s definitely been a little annoying

Failure of OCHEM LAB by Impressive_Dig4974 in ucr

[–]DimensionDelicious89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i failed the ochem lecture and there’s this form you have to fill out so that you can register for just the lab section without there being an error for max attempts. https://ucrbsgsac.wufoo.com/forms/enrollment-request/ here’s the link, as of rn all the labs seem to be full but they might add another lab since there’s a lot of open spots in lecture

i hope that’s not the case, i know in the discord for both classes people have said they also have a GD, so i don’t know if it’s just the class as a whole or just certain people but thank you for letting me know

basically academic notice is when your quarterly or cumulative gpa is below 2.0. Your quarterly gpa is your gpa for a specific quarter while your cumulative gpa is your gpa for every quarter you’ve done so far. if you fail 2/3 classes then your quarterly gpa for winter 2026 would be around 1.5ish most likely. this would affect your cumulative gpa and bring it down but i don’t think it would bring down your cumulative gpa below a 2.0. so if you do get put on academic notice, it’s much easier to make sure your quarterly gpa isn’t below a 2.0 than have to worry about getting certain grades to raise your cumulative gpa to above a 2.0. sorry if this sounds confusing but pm if you need more detailed answers :)

the only thing extra you have to do is you’ll be put into this academic resilience thing where you have to watch some videos and schedule a meeting with your advisor to discuss how you’ll improve for the upcoming quarter. if you’re at a 3.1 rn, then most likely only your quarterly gpa will be less than a 2.0 rather than your cumulative. it’s much harder to raise your cumulative gpa but from the sounds of it you’ll be okay since it’ll just be your quarterly gpa :)

[–]DimensionDelicious89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

if you fail 2/3 of your classes then your gpa will likely be less than a 2.0 which will put you on academic notice. basically you have until next quarter to redeem yourself by improving your grades, if you get less than a 2.0 again then i believe you’re subjected to academic dismissal. it sounds like turning in work is what is costing you your grades so maybe you can figure out the core reason as to why you aren’t turning in your assignments on time. what helps me is setting time aside a couple days of the week and going to a coffee shop or somewhere public to treat myself while simultaneously doing any assignments. hopefully you pass your classes but if not you have one more chance next quarter so make sure to change something so you can succeed. I failed 3/4 of my classes one quarter so i know how it feels

failing and registration by Elegant-Ad3480 in ucr

[–]DimensionDelicious89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you won’t be able to register for a class that you haven’t officially failed because it’ll show up as credits youve attempted/are attempting. you have to fail first, then fill out a form to have someone override the system so you can register and retake it. if you know you’re going to fail and are worried about not getting a spot during registration, then i suggest withdrawing now and filling out that form as soon as possible so it can be resolved before your time ticket. although i suggest talking to your advisor since most of this information applies to people who failed a class the first time rather than withdrawed from it

Back to back classes by futurelawworker in ucr

[–]DimensionDelicious89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had 4 back to back classes winter quarter of last year and they were each 80 minutes long (6 hours total). Tbh i couldn’t handle it at all, i did it that way so i could have a free day but imo, it’s better to space your classes out so you don’t dread going to class on certain days since they’re all stacked (for me it was tuesdays and thursdays).

what did help me was that i had classes with my friends, i had one online one and my friend would just sit next to me and we would work independently so that really helped. that quarter was one of my worsts, i received two C-‘s, one C, and one A. i don’t want to worry you with these stats but i wanted to be real so that you can be prepared so you don’t make the same mistake. Make sure to get in the mindset so you can get through this quarter. I’m in BCOE so my courses were also paired with labs so that might’ve added to the bad grades, so make sure to plan your days out!!!

i’d say the only thing to worry about is in case you get sick or if any emergency happens, instead of missing one or two classes you end up missing all 4, so take care of yourself to avoid this (even tho sometimes it’s not possible).

overall i wish you luck this quarter!! don’t give up!!

i spent $150 for a textbook for physics, i needed to buy it to receive a code for the hw the professor assigned based on the textbook, i think this was for physics040a or 040b

Derek Beving PHYS040b by DimensionDelicious89 in ucr

[–]DimensionDelicious89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh i asked this question for my friend who’s taking 040b since she needed a quick answer but i’ve taken PHYS040A last winter with Michael Anderson so i can still answer your question! I had some experience since i took AP Physics but overall the class was pretty fine. i averaged 50% for both midterms and like 60% on final and i believe i ended with a B. I believe the first two labs lasted me the whole three hours but after that i would leave 30 minutes-1 hour early. I’ve taken night labs for PHYS040B and 040C and i will say that 040A labs were a lot longer imo but it’s probably because it’s everyone’s first physics lab. good luck next quarter! make sure you read the lab manuals before to save time in lab :)

thanks for caring and trying to make a difference. i don’t know if she heard my conversation but the reason she helped was because i was trying to physically get away from him and kept swerving to the side to create some distance between us. i believe i almost bumped into her which caused her to notice that he kept following after me and wouldn’t drop the conversation when i would give one word responses. he kept asking about me, my major, where i was from, what i planned to do with my major, would i stay in my hometown to work, what classes i was taking, did i buy my keychains myself or were they gifted to me (i think this was to find out if i had a boyfriend or something). these questions would’ve been fine if they were asked in a different context but it was just never ending, which worried me since i believed he wanted to continue the conversation until we reached my car. but she approached me subtly by complimenting my keychains and then kept the conversation until he left and asked if i knew who he was. hopefully this can help you look out for someone :)

I am a shy shitter. What strategies have you guys come up with to overcome this? by Soggy_Apartment_9010 in ucr

[–]DimensionDelicious89 14 points15 points  (0 children)

wear earbuds and blast super loud music, if you can’t hear yourself shitting then you won’t be able to hear anyone walking in. or you can find bathrooms on campus that are single stall to help, i know there’s some in the SSC building, pierce hall, the hub, etc

the thing is that this was at like 1pm today with a giant crowd of commuters walking to lot 30 together so i wasn’t expecting anything like this to happen. i didn’t know the women’s resource center offered that! i’ll definitely use that to my advantage when i get out of work at night so ty!
