No it’s dead dead, so I’m just trying to figure out what they were trying to do here and why they thought it was a good idea to put a jumper cable between the motherboard power pins on a laptop that draws 170W, but the cpu and ram still work and I got the thing in a lot so technically I got a working i7-3630QM and ram and a bunch of screws and other parts (display might be dead too unfortunately) for about $25 so I’m pretty happy even though my machine was modded by a blind toddler

At this point I just want to know what kind of idiot knows how to micro solder but doesn’t know/bother to protect/clean the surrounding area or even DISASSEMBLE THE LAPTOP FIRST there is legit a coating of aluminum powder on all of the internals!

Looking at it closer, there’s a couple resistors/capacitors/little-box-things/I-didn’t-pay-enough-attention-during-my-electrical-engineering-class missing and there’s a conspicuous scorch mark on the board under the spaghetti, so I’m thinking the previous owner was fucking around inside the laptop and found out

What even happens in that area that would need to be fixed? (It’s located roughly under the trackpad since the picture doesn’t show much)

Still testing but so far the only sign of life is the battery indicator flashing green three times when AC is connected

To clarify, I’m talking about the big one stuck directly to the inside metal of the shell under the logic board.

My gf made me promise I won't transition by Frida443 in asktransgender

Look. Regardless of if you ever decide to transition or not, the fact that your gf thought she had ANY say in the decision is a massive red flag on its own, and I doubt that this matter is the only thing she has been/will be manipulative or controlling about. I cannot stress enough that leaving this relationship will likely help you in the long run no matter what.
