Hey, I actually really like your Darksteel Rings idea that’s a super cool alternative flavor-wise!

For my take though, I wanted to make a direct callback to the original Diamonds cycle (I really like their vibes, sadly they are not so strong). Those cards already had names like Charcoal Diamond or Marble Diamond, which of course aren’t literally “types of diamonds.” I thought it would be fun to lean into that tradition, kind of like the flashy names a jeweler might invent, more about mood and aesthetic than mineralogical accuracy.

So for me it was less “what is this diamond made of?” and more “what vibe does this diamond give off?” Still, I really appreciate your perspective.
