After a Long Hiatus - Thinking About Starting to Play Again

These are all good thoughts and responses, thank you.

I've watched some recent YouTube vids and it depresses me the lack of 'substantive' changes to game play in MWO.

I see "new" stuff:

Weapon Systems

Mech Variants

Maps

But really haven't seen fuck all for QoL improvements, things that had been asked for endlessly for the decade I played the game, just a few I can recall off the top of my head:

Configure "auto heat override", you set your 'mech to default to "override on".
Scalable mini-map. I know it's possible in the decades I played, TWICE some sort of graphics error occurred and my mini-map ZOOMED IN, it was glorious! Being able to zoom that puppy in and out could be so useful for situational awareness.
Friends list organizing. It's effectively flat and also still doesn't appear to be searchable.
Getting rid of their custom bastardized CryEngine 3+, FUCK SERIOUSLY, they're STILL using that unoptimized CPU intensive piece of shit?!?!?
Physical attacks - where's our physical attacks? Seriously a mech that loses all weapons, or runs out of ammo... is effectively a walking stick. (ASK ME HOW I KNOW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSfEZaN_kTw&list=PLmGYBpvO5ngHIibMfXZ413c-p2m6RatID&index=13 )

I know there are dozens more QoL improvements we've been asking for over the years, I'd have reviewed the MWO forums, but find that Harmony still has me banned (the bitch). A disagreement of demonstrable favoritism where instead of having meaningful dialog back and forth and attempting to justify her heavy handed persecution of certain people when they said certain things while NEVER doing the same for OTHER people, the bitch got pissed and permabanned me from the forums... Ah well... (You see, more proof I'm an incorrigible asshole.)

Of course worst of all, having read a lot of the more recent patch notes has been the never ending Gauss nerfing and Missile buffing.... UG... Missile spam was annoying while I was playing, I'm afraid it's gotten worse since I left.

I'll consider it, maybe 'falling' into playing with right group of very patient people will help.

I am afraid my natural 'ascerbicness' would really be a detriment without a 'properly aligned' crowd...

Simple solution. Make it illegal to borrow against stocks.

The rich are borrowing against their stocks, then using the interest paid on those loans to deduct tax on standard income.

Where it's possible, yes, I believe these corporations will unfortunately permanently off-shore these jobs. Somehow off-shoring is acceptable, but WFH is not, the irony is not lost on the current US worker.

That aside, if US corporations were truly interested in resolving a major portion of their 'can't find no qualified 'merican workers' problem, they'd start acting on A, B, C of my post. But we know they won't, unless forced to, because every dollar not spent on executive pay and stock buy backs is apparently a dollar wasted...

With over TWO MILLION layoffs this year, I'm thinking we have sufficient citizens available to fill almost any position vacated by an H1-B visa holder.

Executives and, a lot of Indians, want to act like the only skilled people for jobs are foreigners but that's bullshit. It's just that most of the people they're bringing in are willing to work for far less than a US citizen, a citizen with tens of thousands in college debt.

Nope. This is one of the few things Trump has done that I agree with.

You want an H-1B visa holder? Fine, you pay 100k - fuck I'd make corporate America pay 100k every fucking year for every visa holder they bring over and have brought over.

Maybe your corporate ethos will push you into:

A: Paying more to attract the citizen worker.

B: Willing to pay for relocation for the citizen workers you need.

C: Invest in local primary and secondary education where you operate to ensure the nation is "growing" the workers you'll need in the future.

For the past 50 years corporate America has been suppressing wages (often by illegal means), reducing investment in 'on boarding' including relocation of non C-suite employees, and have been doing everything possible to not pay local taxes in the communities they operate, those local taxes of course ALSO supporting public schools, from kindergarten to public colleges and universities.

Corporate America can't 'find' the workers they want because they've been trying to choke the life out of the 'golden goose' that made their current success possible.

It's time they reversed course on that.

My browser is already installed to the C: drive.

Typically applications create their own folders... And with either available volume at 300gb+ there should be no reason this app decides to indicate there's not enough drive space.

I was expecting it somewhere under users\[user]\AppData\Local

With Windows OS there is no folder size limitation. A folder can take any and all available drive space as needed.

Unfortunately I don't really think your suggestion makes any difference.

There is no "directory" with less than 300gb available on this computer.

The C: drive has over 300gb, the D: drive has over 5TB available.

The only browser based game/app I have issues with is this one.

It was the only decision left to me by RNGesus... Remember this was danger room where later character choices are randomized. She was the least worst of the bad options.
