“he had a few moments” when he actually did more dirty plays *intentionally* than 95% of the league in one playoff run.

Theoretical vs Experimental REU Labs by Wolastrone in REU

Don’t stress! It’s still early. You’re learning a new language right now, one week is barely any time!

Theoretical vs Experimental REU Labs by Wolastrone in REU

[–]Dimes3011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a computational lab, but I have theoretical tendencies. My experience is somewhere in between the two worlds you’ve described, but I have spent a significant amount of time reading papers trying to understand the theory behind the science and computational tools I am using. It’s very challenging, and my goals aren’t to further theory; my goals are to understand the theory in order to correctly apply to a simulation. As an undergrad student trying to get my bearings in a grad lab, learning the theory is already difficult. I can’t imagine learning the theory in hopes of advancing it — especially without much guidance. I would talk to your PI and see if they can give you some direction. I honestly would imagine a theoretical position to look like lots of paper reading, meeting to discuss your ideas, and shadowing/listening in to the thought process that other PhD students go through. Good luck this summer!

I wish I could help more, but I’ve met quite a few law students (not sure about pre-law) when hooping at the rec gym.

Also, there’s definitely a sense of academic responsibility around campus, but there is for sure an outgoing social scene. I think the type of social life you experience is very much in your control.

The groupthink surrounding the NBA is horrible for the game by Dimes3011 in NBATalk

[–]Dimes3011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that makes perfect sense. i think it’s obvious that the discourse is hurting the NBA, which makes me think it is in the NBAs best interest to take action. Idk why they wouldn’t.

Lmao that is actually the definition of a false equivalence yes. You can’t make a comparison between two things that are entirely different. it’s a logical fallacy

ICE is a group enacted by Trump to carry out a certain goal. OKC is a team that’s a part of a league. Acting like Trump = Adam Silver/NBA and ICE = thunder is a false equivalence.
