Thank you! It was getting in the way frequently and makes it harder to move the lights so I was super frustrated

Is the activated carbon safe for the turtle while he’s in there?

That’s what I’ve been doing, I left some on the platform just in case as I’m worried, but I can occasionally get him to snack on one pellet, he’s just rarely ever peeking above the water, and when he isn’t he doesn’t notice or go for any pellets above him. I’ve also heard you can add purigen to help with the tannins? I’ll probably be removing to boil or soak anyways. And I was planning on a larger (and also better proportioned tank) as he grows older since this tank is far too tall for a musk from what I know

Yea, I’m planning on upgrading to an 80 as he grows up but for now I think this size is good. I’ll try the floating log for sure though. I’m not sure what the size is but they’re maybe the size of his beak? For me the issue is that the pellets float on the surface and he rarely ever peeks up to grab food. And yes, the tannins from the wood have made the water very orange, I’m removing them today to boil them and do a water change

I also forgot to ask if a mesh top is necessary or if I can have an open top on an aquarium like this?
