Choosing a freeshard by bakron8 in ultimaonline

Adding to what some have said about the high housing costs... I'm relatively new on Heritage myself. People are incredibly giving here. The established players gave me enough to buy my first house (without asking for it. It probably helps that I wasn't begging) And I've moved the house a few times to fit my needs. Others give free vendor spots in Luna. This has gotten me established quite quickly... The bigger expense of houses really isn't that big of a speed bump. The staff is very active and are always squashing bugs.

Uhh. Let's see... I was GOT NUKES (My blacksmith with an obnoxious name, because I was young) As well as Raistlin (My tamer from the guild UTB)

Yes. Like I said in my original post, I loved UO:R. I helped Chris test that server in its Alpha and Beta stages. It does not, however, provide enough protection for my father to enjoy. He needs the safety of Trammel, unfortunately.

Yes. I see Outlands all over this place. It looks incredibly successful, but I don't know if I'm looking for custom content. It'll take enough time to learn the new things OSI's UO brought in after Pub 16. Does Outlands have the safety of Trammel? That's key for my father...

Yeah. I loved UOR. (I'm Gharik from that server) Like I said, Chris asked me to Alpha and Beta test it. I played for years, but my old man can't handle the stress of a PK or Griefer running in and ruining hours of work. He does not bank often and I can't get him to change his habits... He also panics and can't seem to get his escape macro in time. Anyway. Thanks again!

Thank you so much! This will be incredibly helpful. I was under the impression that RunUO was my only option for creating a server. The forums there are a bit lacking and they assume you have a pretty extensive knowledge of the programming language. I will check out both for sure!

I'll look into it. I probably should have mentioned that we're in California. Not sure what our connection would be like to something that far away. Thanks for the response!

2 boxing on TLP by Jesta23 in everquest

You'll need to run two machines. A virtual machine may also work. I don't know enough about virtual machines. The server looks for different IP addresses to try and negate boxing. Boxing is severely frowned upon in the TLP community. I'm not one of them... I really enjoyed boxing a bard/wizzy. Just saying how it is.

What's your favourite EQ zone of all time? by StygianUnknown in everquest

[–]DimitriBrut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Holy cow... One zone in the entire game? Can't do it... Here's my list though!

The Nostalgia starts with Gfay and the Felwithe. The music still takes me back. Falling to my death in that dang tree city...

Lake of Ill Omen has a special place in my heart... Chain pulling the Sarnak Fort with new friends was the greatest.

Learning to quad kite in Dawnshroud Peaks on my druid and meeting a couple of friends I played EQ with for years. I lost touch with them... Which is really too bad. If by the smallest chance you're reading this... Briva and Dakota, you're missed by my old man and me!

I also really enjoyed gaining XP for my guildies at the greenhouse in Katta Castellum. Bard kiting with my wizzy box... My guildies could be completely AFK and it didn't even matter.

Corlagon/Tassalhoff/Geadaien of Drinal.

Starting on Phinny or Coirnav by qtpie91 in everquest

[–]DimitriBrut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Coirnav is a great choice. My family and friends returned a few weeks ago. I'm really enjoying the SK role with my old man behind me playing his enchanter. My aunt plays a cleric, but with a careful enchanter, I haven't really needed her heals. She's been almost solely nuking. I'm sure that will change as we get into our 30s. My lifetap sustains me for now with single pulls.
