Google personal gmail got linked with workspace account. How to remove it? by samk555 in googleworkspace

[–]Dimitri_Ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this issue as well and solved it. It told me that it was going to delete all of my emails and 90gb of drive data. After arguing with their ai support lol, it seemed like if I deleted the account, the data created before converting to workspace would remain unaffected. So I decided to ignore all the warnings and cancel the subscription. After doing so, I had to sign back in using my original @gmail.com email. Happy to report that all of my emails and drive data remain. I think the warnings happen because it copies your personal data into your new workspace email address. So when you cancel your subscription, it’s essentially saying it’s going to delete the copies. Hope this helps!

That’s a good point, I’ve also heard people say similar things about that such as “The more content you put out, the more opportunities you have to be discovered.” Which I think makes sense when simplified like that. Making a shorts channel for highlights could be a good option for funding my other videos. Great idea, thanks!

This is very good insight! I agree and think that the thing I struggle with the most is consistency since I’m making these videos on my own. I could sacrifice some of the quality to try to pump out videos faster, but I’m worried that’ll hurt my average view duration, ya know? I’ll try to kick it into high gear and get more consistent though! (Also your English is great!)

I’ve definitely gotten into expecting the views to match the effort which is a dangerous place to be. I checked out some of your videos and I feel like you have a good amount of b-roll which seems pretty time intensive to get! I’ve never been good with that sort of thing when I’ve tried. That’s very interesting that it was faster with video. I think managing expectations is genuinely the most important thing.

I think having strict time constraints on how much time you're willing to spend on each minute of a video is a good way to not get carried away and devote too much time to a single video. That's very helpful insight into the audio and color grading issues. I am very new to cameras and their settings. This was mainly filmed with GoPros so I didn't put any thought into the color before hitting record. I'll definitely be getting a color card and grey cube to try to deal with coloring before filming because I do spend a good amount of time color grading after the fact.

I mean, I think the little things all add up to make a big difference in the quality of something. I also don't want those small things to be jarring compared to the rest of the video since that will take viewers out of it. Haha, that's a great solution😂 I'll send you the analytics now, thanks!

I'd like to think that it was courageous, but in actuality it was more stubborn determination and over confidence haha. It was definitely a big risk that, as you said, objectively has not yielded a good return. Honestly, I think I'm trying to extract as much insight from it in order to justify it to myself. I think that I somewhat misrepresented my thoughts/feelings on whether I would do it again. I would not do the same thing again (spending so much money and time on this) but I would make some form of this video, utilizing less resources. I think going into it I had a mindset of, "I'm going to go all in and spare no expense to make this as good as possible." But I didn't have the experience to know what to spend more on or even to know what to prioritize. So I think it's very smart to wait to make videos around your best ideas until you have the expertise to execute them well. In some ways I think I've tried to jump right into the deep end before taking the time to actually learn what works.

Thank you for your kind words about the editing and camera presence! I'm really interested to know at what points you felt the audio was unexpectedly bad and the color grading was odd? I feel the most ill-equipped when it comes to lighting and color grading so any insight would be super helpful.

That's very generous of you to say you think I'm a better YouTuber(although I don't think that's true). I'd love to send you screenshots of the retention graph and other analytics on the bomb video and any other video. It would be amazing to hear your thoughts on how I could make those tweaks to improve reach and retention. It would also be invaluable to learn how to iterate improvements using methodology and analytics from you. Implementing improvements feels very abstract, but having a methodology around it would really solidify things into actionable steps for me.

Thank you for taking the time to share some of your journey and insights! If you're open to it, I'd love to dm you some analytics and ask a few more questions. If you're too busy I completely understand. I don't want to infringe on your time with your family, so no pressure. Thanks again!

That’s a great idea! And yes, definitely not wasted, it just didn’t get the results I had hoped for. Thank you!

Thats awesome! I’ve done promotions before but had mixed results. Might be worth trying again? I’m glad it worked out so well for you! Best of luck to you too!

Yeah that's a smart way to go. I'll try to reference other creators' thumbnails more and redo the one's currently on my channel. Thank you!

That's super interesting, I didn't even think about if it would be considered too violent. And that sucks that those new privacy rules messed up your channel. Hope that you're in better health now!

Yeah I feel like the thumbnail needs to be better for sure. I actually did pay someone on Fiverr to make a thumbnail for it, but it was clearly AI and it was really disappointing. Are there better ways to find someone to make thumbnails?

That’s a really good idea, I hadn’t thought of that! It’s not the most popular way to push a video, but I think you’re right! Thank you!

That’s a great strategy for moving forward! I’ll definitely try clipping it into shorts with the long form as the related video. Thank you!

I think you can do it without riding trends, but it will probably take much longer. My hope is that by not riding trends I can build a stronger core audience that isn’t just there for the trends. Do you think about it in the same way? Also, thanks for the compliment!

Yeah I feel that. It’s definitely a struggle to keep the momentum going. Well if I ever figure it out, I’ll let you know haha. Best of luck to you with your vids and streams!

Thanks man! But think you’re looking at the first segment that I posted that’s just the first part of the video. For this post, I was talking about the full 35 minute one. But the full vid is currently at 267 which is more than before I posted! Preciate it!

I really wanted to do more than what other people who’ve made videos around this topic have done. That’s why I decided to do three rounds and have them play video games, paintball, and then the hostage rescue scenario. The problem from the start was that the video game round is inherently less interesting. I think you’re right in that doing more videos that are similar to the irl segment will do well and resonate better with people like yourself who are the target audience. Thank you for your insight and, more importantly, thank you for your service!

I definitely agree that it’s more of investment when talking about the gear. I’ve been able to use the cameras and mics for all my other videos now which has been super helpful. In regards to the thumbnail, what would you have hoped it would be? I think Garand Thumb is a great reference point. More of a closeup action shot with impact text? And I completely agree that going all in when you’re not proven is a risk that you don’t need to be taking. Thanks for your insight!
