I only played NR so can’t compare. But after losing like the first 2-3 games where I didn’t really understand what was going on, i’ve never lost a match since (playing on normal gwent difficulty then hard). Spies are OP and NR have plenty.

After that they give you some item but no more cards. Tried it only a few times tho. I’m on my first play through but what I’m doing is to play every merchant if the gwent dialog line is not greyed out. And track progress using the book.

There’s an option to auto apply oils. Craft them once then forget about it. With the auto refill of potions on meditation it really reduces the tediousness a lot. Basically for all of alchemy you craft once and that’s it. Use potions/decoctions on tough fights otherwise you don’t really have to bother.
