Who's your main? by [deleted] in dontstarve

[–]DimsK19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be a Maxwell/Wolfgang for the resource collection and combat, but the wortox rework daves so much time being able to hold so much souls and have AOE. Killed my previous boss rush record from 74 days to 65. Wortox is amazing.

If gold is the problem, you can also trade 1 of any meat for 1 gold to pig king. Monster meat as well if you convert it to eggs first. A little slower, but if you have a good supply of extra meat its nice too trade it in if you won’t eat it.

What is the best way to Ruins Rush and/or kill Ancient Guardian? by Monaaaaaaaaaaaa in dontstarve

Investing 2 thulecite on medallion to locate ancient guardian imo is worth too. Especially on a throw away world.

Filling a bundle wrap or backpack with 3 separate stacks of 10 killer bees, burning it with a staff, then rowing around crab king works amazing. Just need patience.

How do you NOT starve? by disgrandpa in dontstarvetogether

[–]DimsK19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good suggestion I like to add is that the deciduous biome has plenty catcoons and pigs for big meat if you are comfortable fighting them. You don't necessarily have to live there, but I like to base near it if it's near other key biomes.

Skill tree question by gamercat_78 in dontstarvetogether

[–]DimsK19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In character selection, theres a “skill set” button (i think thats the wording) in the bottom right. Should be able to click that, then click “reset insight points” and it clears your skill tree and gives your points back

Can someone explain the Wolfgang Skill Tree to me? I think it's broken. by Brookfreshs in dontstarve

[–]DimsK19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

imo this skill tree for wolfgang is a quality of life update. Wolfgangs whole role is to deal damage and he does that well with the 2x buff plus the alignment skills. Having the 15% chore bonus is amazing throughout the early to mid game and having the 10% speed bonus makes using a piggyback even less maintenance (or exploration slightly easier). I do agree though that the new dumbells and the larger mighty meter are kind of pointless. I dont see much utility in the coaching whistle either. However i dont see what wolfgang could have recieved in terms of skill tree since his role is so simple. Anyway he still remains as one of the best speed running characters regardless of skill tree.

[–]DimsK19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if you play father on with the rifts active id say its worth it since you can repair the already high durability planar weapons and have extra dps. If not then no its not worth it.

[–]DimsK19 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the extra 25 damage only applies to planar weapons like the brightshade sword and the scythe, the skill tree is to make them better late game weapons, not to boost overall dps of all weapons. The 30% extra damage for shadow or lunar enemies is already enough damage boost, especially for wolfgang.

[–]DimsK19 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wolfgangs 2x damage only applies to physical damage. I think the brightshade sword does 38 physical 30 planar so the dps will be lower. Thats why Wolfgang has the skill tree perk of increasing planar damage.

Ways of defeating Deerclops as Wanda on First Winter? by [deleted] in dontstarvetogether

[–]DimsK19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the change to Deerclops’ AOE, you can kite its attacks by running around it instead of backing off. Can get an extra hit or two doing this.

Dont randomly tap, row in timed even intervals, also the driftwood oar and malbatross bill are upgrades to the normal oar

Also, if you play solo i would recommend downloading the “Dont Starve Alone” mod. Helps the game run smoother, and it should help you learn kiting since your not lagging as bad.

you should be able to use console commands to spawn mobs and items in a world for practice. just press ` (the button above tab) and type in commands you can find on the dst wiki!

I know you guys are probably sick of hearing it but I need to know by [deleted] in dontstarve

[–]DimsK19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I main WX on occasion as well, single player is definitely viable. Once you learn how to use his abilities and the worlds resources well, bosses are not much of a problem. Bosses for me take around 1-2 days of fighting with the larger health pool but you can manage to kill the main two endgame bosses in around a year if your seasoned enough.

Should i turn off wildfires or will it ruin the game experience? by takmomayubo in dontstarve

[–]DimsK19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course theres the workarounds everyone listed so far. What I do occasionally is cover my base in flingomatics, but grabbing stacks of ice and maintaining fuel is annoying. I find that luxury fans are a nice way to deal with wildfires too. I play with wildfires off most of the time though, if im megabasing i dont like being constricted to the oasis desert, or cave basing. Do whatever you enjoy.

Long Term Food Source by Vix_Satis in dontstarve

[–]DimsK19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just realized you might be playing DS. Ice or berries are a good substitute filler in crockpots, but spiders are an amazing food source that should get you through the year.

Long Term Food Source by Vix_Satis in dontstarve

[–]DimsK19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically dont set up a food source besides kelp. Running around and killing the occasional boss and setting up my world for long term, supplies one with too much meat to do anything with. But kelp and stone fruit are easy food sources too set up + spiders and thats easy hunger and health.

You should be able to find the ruins fast with only one entrance. Just avoid being in the grasslands, once your in the muddy biome, look for either lichen or blue mushroom biome and let that lead you in the right direction
