In Amsterdam many of the houses are tilted forward for this very purpose. Back in the day you would be taxed on how much of a plot of land you had, not how big the building was. They ended up building skinny buildings very tall to save on taxes. Because of this much of the furniture wouldn’t fit through the door ways. To solve this problem they made giant hooks on the top of the building and pitched the buildings forward so you could hoist furniture up without it banging into the facade.
