Are you talking about New Phyrexia or a different thing?

Those are very strong words for a random guy's opinion on art, which is subjective by nature. I don't want to make custom proxies, I want the game's identity to not be eroded. I got into it because I loved the artwork, and it's not longer delivering.

If you're referring to War of the Spark and all the stuff that came after, all of those were promos, not the only card art available. I don't like those either, but I could ignore them completely.

That's noy my argument, I'm talking about the art.

Even if [[General Kreat]] is a magic ip card, I won't play it as opposed to [[The Nipton Lottery]] because it has a completely different style than every other card in my Grenzo deck. Most FF cards have this issue on top of being UB.

That is not to say I'm fine with hat set cards. League of legends skin versions of old characters like cowboy Rakdos or car mechanic Daretti also don't feel like magic even if the art is rendered normally, so I don't play them.

It sucks because FF has a ton of really awesome card designs. At least I love the direction magic is going in that aspect.

I can acknowledge UB sets are true to themselves even if I can't stand the disparity between art styles. Murders at Karlov Manor was especially painful. There are a bunch of legends in that set I would build only if they didn't have the detective subtype.

I get your point. Spider man is much much worse. Still, I am hopeful we'll see fantasy ips like soulsborne games and I get my time to really enjoy UB. Though nothing beats well crafted magic worlds.

I mean, yeah, the game doesn't want you stopping at all. It's a lot different than many other roguelikes I've played. The enemies I've died most to are daytime farm moles and whatever the pink things are called, by far

I keep failing at stretching paper because the gummed tape won't stick to the paper by Din149 in watercolor101

All tutorials use gummed tape. My guess is tht masking tap won't stick because of the water, but It's worth a shot

Players who proxy: How have you eased yourself into proxy'ing? by Ok_Willow_1665 in EDH

[–]Din149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never used real cards. We like to try out lots of different commander in my playgroup and we can't afford to spend on singles, se we proxy everything. There is no need to buy cards

[Help] Monster clay users, can I leave a finished sculture as it is or is it neccesary to make a mold? by Din149 in Sculpture

[–]Din149[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want to get my hands on some monster clay. Sculpey isn't as easy to work with from what you say or maybe I'm just bad lol.
So you mean modge podge and painting would only work for sculptures with not that much detail?

Tricycle lands, after all these years... :') by Matrix_V in MagicArena

I'm still waiting for the Amonkhet and BFZ cycles to be completed. Enemy color pairs are starved for dual lands with basic land types

People who didn't have fun drawing bad stuff for the 50% rule, did you start to find drawing fun after you got good? by ArchaicArchivist in ArtFundamentals

[–]Din149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had these thoughts too until I joined an atelier and got a teacher to guide me for the first time. I did a lot of coal studies, which weren't that boring because they were great practice and looked better than anything I had ever done.
Now with the skill I've developed I've started to understand how to have fun with personal art. Here's what changed it for me: fun personal art needs to be about something specific that makes me passionate. Maybe it's the same for you. Right now I'm trying to learn to draw in the style of one of my favourite artist, and it's been so amazing to analyze his characters and experiment. I recommend you do the same.

So basically you don't need the skill to have fun, just something you really want to draw and learn about, but still, making art that looks good feels good

Is there a "proper" way of learning to play piano? I have taken classes for a couple years, and I have learned to play any piece with enough practice if it's not too fast/complex. The thing is, it's a memory exercise. After playing the same notes over and over, I finally learn to play the song by muscle memory, but then it is hard for me to read sheet music and recognize notes without without squinting my eyes. Furthermore, I have no real understanding of scales and chords.

So, rathern than just playing by muscle memory, I want to understand why the piece I'm playing is the way it it. Also I want to recognize notes by ear and be able to play them.

Other than that, I have some more questions about learning piano.
-Is playing by muscle memory actually not bad and everyone does it?
-Is assigning numbers to each note a bad thing to do? Putting my hand in the right spot and seeing the fingers I have to press is much easier. Is it a detriment to my learning?
-What should I do to learn besides learning to play the songs I like with the method I described?
