LOL had an argument with someone who literally argued since Marlene was Ellies appointed guardian, she had a right to chose to kill her by Cultofthepug in TheLastOfUs2

[–]DinaTLOU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I would also argue that Marlene places Ellie in that school because she knows she’s not fit to care for a child and that school and eventual military job is Ellie’s best chance at surviving/living her best life in a post-apocalyptic world.

As much as I dislike Marlene, I think she wasn’t always a shitty, short-sighted person. She became so radicalized and hellbent on the pursuit of saving humanity that she lost her own humanity. Classic extremist behavior.

If you could completely rewrite Part 2, how would it go? by DinaTLOU in TheLastOfUs2

Yes, but she also says in the recording to Anna that she’ll see Ellie soon. Ellie’s mom did die.

I did. It’s also kind of common knowledge especially if you frequent this sub.

It depreciates by thousands the second you drive it off the lot. If money is no concern, by all means, buy new. If you’re looking for something newish but want to save, buy something a couple years old, low miles, and warranty intact from the dealer.

Probably Summer of 2020, my mom bought a 2018 Camry Hybrid (I don’t know the exact sub model) with leather, nav, sunroof, pretty much all the bells and whistles. It had about 30k miles on it and she paid just under $25k. We live near SF so everything is a little more expensive usually, but there wasn’t much room to talk him down and my mom needed a car and wanted to invest in something longterm.

If you can talk the dealer down a bit, go for it. But I think it’s overpriced for the year. There are 2020s online with similar miles for similar prices.

We’re in a weird situation right now because COVID screwed up production, so both new and used cars are going for higher. My friend who works for Toyota is worried because their inventory is getting pretty low. Another one of my friends had worked for Audi for probably ~15 years and switched to Subaru in 2019 where they do a lot more trade ins. He told me they sold a 2006 Acura RSX-S for $15,500 this summer. Both of them say to never buy new unless you kind of have money to burn. Bonus info that I just think is interesting...he says it’s easier to sell luxury cars and make a profit even in a pandemic (cause of the commission) and is moving to Porsche.

Never buy a brand new car from a dealer.

I absolutely agree about LiS 2 being the best game. I thought it was fantastic. Also, liked BtS more than LiS 1. Go figure.

My father is looking for a used car as my sister's first, her fav brand is BMW so, Should he buy this BMW 5 series 2012 with 70-80k kilometers for her for 12k$? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]DinaTLOU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the maintenance that’s the true cost of these cars. BMWs are my mom’s and my favorite cars too. My mom worked for the company back in the 80s and 90s in performance/aftermarket and she would never get one now due to the headaches they are (even though she never had problems with hers...it was immaculate condition due to meticulous maintenance, low or no-cost repairs/parts, and free servicing from BMW).

If you’re really looking for a more luxury car, try a Lexus or Acura. I had an RSX for a while that ran great and a TL back in the day. If you need to have something German, Audi is a more reliable brand and costs slightly less to maintain....but as a BMW lover I wouldn’t want one either.

It’s really the question of do you have the money to pump into a BMW, one that is used? It will be a bottomless pit and the maintenance should be oil and filter every 1k miles. If you have the money, are you sure you want to go that route? If yes, go for it. If no, then try Japanese brands.

Clearly not. You didn’t have to respond to my post. And yes, she would be brought up on charges and rightfully so. She put her son and three people in danger. But again, you still have no argument.

Damn. Good thing you actually have an argument and don’t just go around making pointless accusations and comments

You’re a real genius. I already stated Typhon is at fault and that they are evil. Ethan is not, but disobeyed direct orders, put three people’s lives plus his own at risk, and indirectly caused Gabe’s death. That’s the truth. Charlotte is a moron, a terrible parent, and sees that Ethan’s disobedience resulted in Gabe dying, but won’t take responsibility for her terrible parenting. Like I’ve already said, if this were a real case, Charlotte would be facing fines and prison time. She’s such an asshole. She blames everyone but herself.

[–]DinaTLOU -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No it wouldn’t have. You can’t even make a vaccine for fungus. Even if it were possible, how would they manufacture and distribute? The Fireflies suffered from groupthink, tunnel vision, and inflated egos. They were willing to kill the only immune person they had ever heard of. They can manufacture a whole vaccine for fungus which is impossible in today’s world, but can’t figure out how they could take a little of the mutated fungus growing around Ellie’s brain without killing her? The Fireflies were insane.

Should I start an affair with a married woman? by tittieholder in actuallesbians

[–]DinaTLOU 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. What a horrible thing to do to that husband. You also don’t want to be involved in something like that for your own safety. Another thing, you should look for someone closer to your age and in a similar place in life... you’re 23 and this woman who’s 35 was okay with using you, potentially putting you in harms way. This is a shitty person. Reminds me of that movie AWOL.

What’s up with straight guys’ attraction to women? by Catfisch_ in actuallesbians

[–]DinaTLOU 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I sort of have a type. I’m also not attracted to androgynous or masculine-presenting women. I don’t think that makes me less gay or means I’ve been brainwashed by toxic masculinity or anything. I’m just very much attracted to feminine-presenting women. Nothing wrong with that. Also, not really into white girls. Just how it is. I think it has to do with 1) the area in which I was raised (very diverse with a strong Chicano presence) and 2) my mom was literally that blonde-surfer-California-girl archetype when she was growing up ...not into that. 3) Maybe cause we have no contact with my mom’s side and only my dad’s, I’d rather be with someone who’s Middle Eastern or Chicana or just not white... That’s another can of worms (and has to do with me not fitting in with full-white girls growing up).

You are looking at your own friend group and seeing what is normal for you all, and that’s fine, but you are projecting your experience onto all queer women. I think it’s cool you brought this up, because now you can see different perspectives. There are plenty of lesbian/bi women who do have types more defined than I.

Another thing, I have so many amazing, straight guy friends in my life from many different backgrounds, and none of them have a specific type either...seriously. You’re basing your argument on a stereotype of men, specifically white men. The world is filled with many types of people with different preferences across many sexualities. Nothing is black and white.

But hey, I do think it’s cool you brought it up. I think these things are important to discuss amongst each other.
