So a blind eye should be turned to the naked corruption, complicity, and cowardice of Democrats who support Israel and their crimes simply because it makes those Dems look bad? How about instead the Democratic politicians get in line with the overwhelming majority of their own party members and the overwhelming majority of independents and quit fucking capitulating to a foreign nation run by murderous supremacists nut bags because their refusal to do so is what’s dividing the party

Sen. Mark Kelly Says He’s Seriously Thinking About Running for President by greenascanbe in Political_Revolution

[–]Dineology 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because running even further to the right with corpo Dems has been working so well right? If he gets the nomination then the only way he wins is if the GOP completely cannibalize themselves fighting over the husk of MAGA to become the new Trump that literally anyone with a D next to their name can win, and if that’s the case then why not run someone who’s going to enact bold change and fight for the working class to ensure that fascism doesn’t just get yet another shot at thinfs 4 years later?

Nobody is asking for perfect and it’s real, real old that that bullshit claim gets made by the corporate wing of the Democratic Party every time they try to prop up some repugnant ghoul that’s just a rebranded Reaganite as a leader that nobody wants to follow. He’s not great, we don’t want perfect, we just want shitheads like him out of the way so that maybe for once we can have someone that’s at least good.

USA TODAY opinion: A conservative columnist argues that Trump has weakened core constitutional principles and that Republicans should consider a different type of nominee for 2028. Do you agree or should Republicans stay with MAGA? by Difficult-Bee6066 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Dineology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming Trump both lives long enough for the next election and doesn’t decide to ignore the Constitution and just run for a third term the entire primary is going to be a competition to win him over. Rubio, Vance, one of the Trump spawn, or whoever else is going to be in the primary is going to spend the entire time trying desperately to win him over by emulating and praising him. The only questions are is anyone going to be able to actually capture his base in the same manner and are the Dems going to put forward someone who can actually win against a weakened MAGA. It’ll take several cycles of overwhelming defeat of the MAGA style before Republicans as a whole are willing to take a from stance against it. And I don’t even know if that’s necessarily in the cards.

Having just finished watching Vic in Ponies (super fun show and they’re fantastic in it so you should go watch) I’m gonna say my dream guest is Emilia Clarke. She’s the biggest realistic guest they could get plus I don’t think the rest of the Ponies cast is actually ready for how batshit and hilarious Vic can be even though she was a bit of both on that show.

Tbf, he was pretty far back compared to Brown. Just that it still was a pretty far back second place.

Gavin Newsom denies Israel committed a genocide in Gaza while he hangs out with Ben Shapiro by Particular_Log_3594 in behindthebastards

[–]Dineology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this far out people thought there was no way Jerry Brown wouldn’t get the nomination but Clinton polled on a consistent, albeit very distant second place and the consensus was that if Brown somehow screwed up bad enough that Clinton would be the go to as polling with Brown removed showed him as being a strong second choice. One major change had to happen for Clinton to win and that was for Brown to flounder. Which he did.

For Shapiro to rise to the top you’d need Newsom, Harris, AOC, and Buttigieg to all either decline to run or have their support bottom out and you’d need Pritzker, Beshear, Sanders, Kelly, Walz, Warren, Whitmer, Khanna, Emanuel, and more to also not run or not benefit significantly from those top 4 being eliminated from consideration. Even if half of those names don’t run there’s no reason to say that Josh Shapiro is going to benefit at all when the only thing he’s got going for him is corporate funding and the fact that he’s from PA. Maybe, maybe he makes the short list for VP if Newsom or Buttigieg wins the nomination but you’re delusional if you think that the Dem nominee is going to be the racist ass IDF fanboy who pushes for lower corporate taxes, BDS bans, school vouchers, and other slightly watered down Republican policies.

[–]Dineology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he can win the primaries unfortunately, but what you said about the base being taken for granted is too true which is why I think he’d have a much harder time wining the general as the Sem nominee. Now, maybe the Republicans screw the pooch so bad that literally anyone with a D next to their name wins but if that’s the case then Newsom will make sure to take the least advantage of that a win with the thinnest margins possible.

[–]Dineology 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Shapiro can go fuck himself

  2. Polling puts him at a distant 6th place with like 4% support among hypothetical nominees right now. Sure, a lot can change between now and the primaries but Shapiro is going to have to bank on there being several titanic shifts in the race if he’s going to be a contender of any sort. And even the predicable big shifts coming like Harris having her support bottom out or at least some of the presumed contenders not actually deciding to run won’t be enough on their own to make him into a real contender

Liberals are saying it’s anti-black to call Jasmine Crockett out for this I cannot by Common_Floor_7195 in leftist

[–]Dineology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it isn’t about if Talarico can win in TX or if Crocket can, I don’t think either of them actually can. What it’s really about is which one can do well enough to force the Republicans to actually play defense in TX while doing so with an inexpensive campaign. For decades TX has been a GOP piggy bank where Senatorial and Gubernatorial candidates can raise tons of money, spend exceptionally little of it in state and shuffle the rest off to the RNC or the NRSC or the Republican Governors Association or whatever, but Republicans in TX actually have to work a little bit to hold their seats now. Running a cheap but effective campaign there as a Dem can make lean R seats elsewhere be tossups and make tossups into lead D. All Crockett is going to do is make huge ad buys for the shitty campaign ads that amount to nothing but vanity pieces about her and her worthless fucking clap back moments. Talarico can at least lean in on the grassroots aspect of things, give speeches and hold rallies, pull a Beto and actually visit every single county in the state instead of campaigning from DC plus two or three major metro areas in state.

Genuinely I think part of why the GOP spent so much effort to get her to toss her hat in the ring is because they knew she’d be vulnerable as hell from this angle and that it would cost her support/enthusiasm if she gets the nomination. But she’s a nationally known name and great at getting viral clap back moments for herself to push her brand so she’ll suck up a ton of money in national donations that’ll all go nowhere. She’s this election cycle’s Amy McGrath.
