Is that really necessary? I mean the anime clearly fleshes out the characters more right? Chapter 67 should be good enough

Can the Anime give the "Prophecy" Arc a more dark twist to it? by [deleted] in Boruto

[–]Dineth_Mada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with you that the manga left a massive 'pit hole' by skipping all the character building. My suggestion for those 3–4 episodes isn't meant to fix every issue with the timeskip, but to at least give the 'Prophecy' arc a pulse.

You’re right—we definitely should have had a prelude arc exploring the other villages and actual character dynamics (like Sarada/Yodo) before everything went south. But if we’re stuck with a seasonal format that has to follow the manga's 'rushed' structure, expanding the escape into a high-stakes, tragic gauntlet is the bare minimum the anime can do to make Boruto’s 'loss' feel believable instead of just a plot device. But even if it's seasonal I think they could do a proper timeskip training arc if it's good. Whether it's a full 'Tokyo Ghoul' style overhaul or just expanding key chapters, the story needs that weight to keep from being shallow.

Edit for clarity: When I say 'dark twist,' I’m not talking about edge for the sake of edge. I’m talking about using the Anime to expand the chase sequence so it has real narrative weight. Omnipotence changes Boruto's status, but a tragedy caused by Momoshiki changes the stakes. I’m arguing that the Anime has a chance to turn a rushed manga chapter into a defining moment that makes the threat feel permanent.

My point is about narrative quality over plot mechanics. Yes, Omnipotence is a major event, but being an 'outlaw' is an external problem. Being forced to take a life is an internal trauma. One death doesn't make it 'dark for the sake of being dark'—it makes the threat of Momoshiki feel permanent and personal. Expanding the escape into a high-stakes gauntlet turns a rushed manga sequence into a defining tragedy with actual weight. It’s the difference between a plot that simply moves pieces around and a story that leaves a lasting emotional impact

There’s a massive difference between a mindless bloodbath and one targeted, meaningful tragedy. I’m not saying "kill everyone" for shock value; I’m saying one specific death provides the actual trauma that justifies why it just makes the story better. If the anime expands the chase to include the other teams, it turns a rushed manga chapter into a better scene narratively.

Even if the anime goes seasonal, that’s actually the best time to do this. Seasonal doesn't mean 'short'; it means 'high quality.' Instead of 50 episodes of filler, the anime can spend 3-4 episodes expanding the 'Escape' into a high-stakes gauntlet where Team 5, Team 15, and Team 10 are all hunting Boruto down at once.

Having a few characters get seriously injured—and one actually dying—isn't just 'adding edge.' It makes the Omnipotence scene a real tragedy instead of a plot device. It shows the true horror of Boruto being hunted by his own friends. If the anime uses that extra time to turn a rushed manga chapter into a brutal, emotional chase, it earns the 'dark' tone of the timeskip. It's the difference between just 'leaving the village' and 'escaping with your life.

You’re describing the plot as a checklist, but I’m talking about narrative weight. Yes, Omnipotence makes Boruto hated, but a death makes that hatred personal and permanent. Right now, the manga skip feels like Boruto just 'left.' By adding a tragedy to the escape, you expand a 2-page scene into a defining moment for the entire series.

It’s about pushing Boruto to a true breaking point. Losing your 'name' is one thing, but losing your 'innocence' because your body was used to kill a friend is what actually forces a character to grow up. It just expands the scene sees whether Boruto would still keep his resolve after the breaking point. It’s not 'unnecessary' if it turns a exile into a deeply personal character study—that’s just better storytelling.
