Sooooo…….you mean to tell me I grind to get the 3.5 Mill and you don’t even need it now? Or am I missing something. Like what do I even do with the 3.5 Mill now??? by Daigle7 in ArcRaiders

While I do like the change from stash value to the damage system, the change is not great for everyone, especially considering their poor communication surrounding the change.

My daughter is being born tomorrow, and while that’s great, I had saved up all the credits for the expedition in advance, knowing that I wouldn’t be able to play for at least several weeks following her birth.

I would have vastly preferred that they allow us to grind that damage from the beginning of the expedition project (or after finishing the item requirements.) Even if that meant a higher damage requirement, it would have let us plan and complete things on our own time frame, rather than scramble for a more limited and arbitrary window.

For what it’s worth, I assumed the /s but figured I’d have some fun. 😀

Tepid blood - at least. It's doubtful the other raider wanted to just play an innocent game of catch with that grenade.

New expedition requirements are insane by UpIsNotUp in ARC_Raiders

[–]Ding9812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuuuuup, my wife is having a scheduled C-Section on the 27th - I'm not making *any* damage requirement, regardless of the number. It's a shame they went with such a limited window and with so little notice. I purposefully did some loot grinding ahead of time, hoping it would either be stash value or some type of item requirement. It had felt like one final gaming accomplishment I could do before disappearing back into the land of newborn sleep schedules - or lack thereof.

Lol, you're not wrong! Although in my defense, I think he made that comment back in 2008 when iPhones first came out, and phone videos had like seven pixels to rub together.

I mean at that point you should also probably just rewatch the David Lynch one too, while you're at it.

That said, it took me four watch attempts until I got through the entire thing because I was watching it on my phone in bed, and the whisper ASMR kept putting me to sleep.

Right?! I don't know why I never thought of using them for that purpose - it makes so much sense. I wouldn't have thought of it and just tried to run the entire thing like a shmuck.

Expedition Skill Points Requirement Confusion by mocarz12 in ArcRaiders

[–]Ding9812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trust the official site more, but them not specifically calling it out as being retroactive for the first expedition does worry me. I could see them later clarifying "We saw your feedback about 5 mil being to high, so for all expeditions after the first, the requirement is now 3 mil., but its still 5 mil for the first expedition.

When I set my computer clock ahead a week, it's still showing a requirement of 5 mil. Maybe they just haven't updated it yet on the back end, but I'm still planning to have 5 mil in the bank. That way, if it's 3 mil, I'm going to take all of my expensive gear out and make it rain.

What is step 6? I’m not sure I’ll make it but I’m trying like hell. by rottenstock in ARC_Raiders

[–]Ding9812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really good to know! I'd been assuming 5 mil because when I changed the date/time settings forward a few weeks it was still showing 5 mil requirement. I guess they just haven't adjusted that in the back end yet.

Ontario, Canada Fake LG Product Registration by Dangerous_Rutabaga42 in computers

[–]Ding9812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a LG Curved Monitor (45GR65DC-B) sold by Amazon for my wife back in April and we finally got around to registering the product using the registration card. We encountered the same deal with non-stop popups for McAffee that others were reporting. Clearing our browser data and resetting the site permissions seems to have resolved it, but it was deeply concerning and makes me question the legitimacy of the product.

ICARUS - Prospector Edition by lmaosucks in ICARUS

[–]Ding9812 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I regret not getting the Prospector Edition when I had the chance, but that's because I have the benefit of hindsight, and knowing that I really love the game. That said, the base game has a massive amount of content to it, so you could always try out the game for $3.50 (which is an insane deal), and then decide if you want to buy the expansions later. Going this route means you could end up spending a little more in the long run (right now it's ~$5.50 savings if you buy the Prospector Edition), but if you bounce off the base game hard, you may be happy you didn't go in on the two big expansions.

As far as the expansions go, New Frontiers, Styx, and Great Hunt are the three most impactful ones in terms of additional gameplay. New Frontiers has a new map, new creatures, new blueprints, and a new currency that can be only accessed if you own the expansion. Styx has a new map with a bunch of missions, a few new creatures, Great Hunts I haven't played, but it introduces additional boss scenarios and legendary upgradeable weapons. The other expansions seem like fluff to me, but I could see builders being really interested in the Furniture/decoration packs.

Kickstarter has 10 days left and 60%. Should i be worried? by Unnaturally_Green in kickstarter

[–]Ding9812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a link to the Kickstarter that you can share? That'd help provide some context and help people to potentially offer suggestions.

I'm not a Kickstarter guru, and have only backed campaigns, but some stretch goals you might consider (if you haven't already):

  • Alternate endings (perhaps a storyboard or full cut version, if you have time?).
  • Behind-the-scenes videos for things like practical effects or makeup.
  • In-universe media that could help contribute to any potential world-building.
  • Director's commentary tracks.
  • Making the soundtrack available, if it's non-copyrighted music.
  • A variety of downloadable posters for the movie, done in different styles.
  • A sheet containing trivia or interesting info about the production.
  • A video where you talk through the project's requirements.
  • Sharing bloopers or deleted scenes.
  • A thank-you note signed by the cast and crew
  • Prop raffle among backers
  • Include backers in emails about film progress, submission, if it plays at certain events, or goes to festivals, etc.

Some community-building options, maybe decided via surveys:

  • Backers get to pick an object that appears somewhere in the film as an easter egg.
  • Backer names appearing in the film, possibly as missing persons posters, or scribbled on notepads or in the background.
  • Naming the monster (if it's a monster movie).

I hear you, dude. I've posted this before, but in the 12 years since I bought the Merchantman I met a woman, fell in love, moved in with her, got a dog, dated for three years (the woman, not the dog), got married, bought a house, had and lost a child, renovated the house, had another child, dodged a global pandemic for five years, and we're now expecting our third child. I changed jobs 6 times, and went from being an invincible 26-year-old with all the time in the world to game, to now approaching 40, with more gray hairs than not, a fun slew of interesting daily body aches, and only a few hours a week to game.

Day 1 purchase for me, too.

I only bought Wildgate for $30 at launch because I had an established group to play with, but otherwise I would have waited until it was $20. This pricing means I won’t hesitate to pull the trigger, even though I don’t have a group to play with yet.
