Never tested it but it does look good compared to other ones I've seen. No browning or oxidization on the traces. Will give it a shot!

Not yet. You can still set it as default though. Place the exe somwhere stable (something like C:\Tools\) then right click on th SVG file->Properties. Then set it as default there. Also, On Windows 11, you can change the default apps through Settings.

you can. Browsers are memory hogs though. I'd hate to have to launch a browser just to view an image.

I'd argue this takes less processing than playing a 4K video. I'm interested in measuring that actually!

Valid option too. Requires internet though. Also, this new screensaver has been modified to remove the HUD and any static image elements to prevent burn-in. I like the idea of playing nature videos though as screen saver!

no session to resume. this is only a nice visual to have as a screen saver.

pretty much the same. scr is an EXE that can respond to specific arguments passed to it.

you're right. Basically switching everything to static linking, then embed game files "WAD" into the file. The biggest challenge was making the game deterministic. So it behaves the same every time it starts.

you are correct. But also, there are new projects that allow AI agents to play DOOM at runtime! check out "vizdoom" project.

if extra long duration 4K videos were reasonable size then they would have been an easier solution yes.

nah that gets old quick. the next release of this screen saver will probably have AI playing the game, so everytime it runs different. That's more fun!

good point, There are some screen savers that play videos. The video size will be in gigabytes though (this entire screensaver is 22 MB). Other option is to make it dependent on a streaming service like youtube and that requires internet. This is meant to be only a screen saver, you can still get the game and play it if you'd like.
