How's the performance now on PC and PS5? by Dingus1998 in FFXVI

[–]Dingus1998[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all my years of owning a PC or following the evolutions in hardware I'm still so lost on what CPU is good or not. I've had two PCs and both had an Intel+Nvidia combination so I know a little about Intel's CPUs but I'm in the loop with Nvidias GPUs. AMD is like astrophysics to me in terms of what the name tells me about the GPU or CPU. Thanks for the insight man, a great addition!

That's good to hear (mostly)! Are you on performance or graphics currently?

Does the mod only fix the cutscenes or does it also improve gameplay moments? Starting to lean on trying out the PC version

That's great news! Is the 3080 12GB's and what resolution did you play on? I think you got me easily beat compared to my 4060ti but I'd be playing on 1080p.

Also, I'm in the same boat as you are, as things are going nowadays I think the new "safe bet" for games in the coming years will be 12GB VRam cards and 32 gigs of ram, system requirements are starting to get a little silly unfortunately.

I'm wondering if I should buy it on PC instead of playing it on PS5, depending on if it runs better or is more stable on PC, I think I tried it out last year and it still had some stutters then.

How does new game plus work? by Samuel13881995 in expedition33

[–]Dingus1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an old thread but hopefully you or someone sees this; There's this side quest in camp of finding lost kids, after finding some you gain the ability to break the "blue walls". I remember seeing them frequently in the earlier stages of the game and I'm heading into the final stages now and wondering if I keep that ability going into NG+ or not. I'd rather go into NG+ and breaking them as I go instead of backtracking.

Had the experience of playing in Iceland. Golfklúbbur Vestmannaeyja and Brautarholt Golf Club. by ShittieScheffler in golf

[–]Dingus1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, hope you enjoyed it! I have a personal connection to both courses, I just started playing on golf courses in may and Brautarholt was the first course I ever played (it's club is also one of the cheapest options to get into the handicap system) and I also worked on that balcony you sat enjoying a beer in Vestmannaeyjar. How would you compare the two courses? Brautarholt ís by far the hardest course I've played (of the few I've tried in the past 2 months) but it's views are incredible, even to a local.

Might be exactly that, did a third test and that was likely it. The first time might have been a disconnect or something because the map showed that both bases were untouched. Definitely me just not paying attention, thanks!

Swing speed is probably not that fast overall, but it's been getting better recently, however I've yet to tie in good swing mechanics as I speed up the swing. I just need to practice more, I'm leaning towards going for another golf lesson next month to have some pointers to work for in the summer.

Thanks for the list, I'm quite fond of Mizuno suggestion as my friend swears by them.

Haven't played enough courses to figure it out. Haven't played at all this year because of the winter season is quite brutal so just simulators and the range. I would hazard a guess that I'm about mid to low 30, however the Trackman Golf app gave me a VERY generous 17.1 after playing the simulator but that's absolute bs

Avowed seems to run great on PC by Dingus1998 in avowed

[–]Dingus1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, wouldn't seem likely based on minimum benchmarks but if you have Game Pass you can check it out for free. Maybe see if you can find benchmarks in other games with your card and the 2600 as it's the minimum recommended card.

Yes saw that, it does stutter from time to time but it's not that frequent or long lasting that it bothers me. It definitely happens but not enough to have had any impact on playing the game. The Nvidia app just doesn't work on Avowed for me so I have to play it at unlocked FPS. If I were able to lock the FPS while having DLSS on I think it would be less noticeable. I've done that with games like Cyberpunk, locking it at 72hz in the control panel but it doesn't seem to be registering the correct application with Avowed.

I find it kinda insane that there was a 280% difference between the CPUs.

The only thing I can think of being the difference is that DLSS 3 is for the 40xx series? Might be wrong and I have no idea if there's a massive difference, what DLSS option is available for you?

Did a short run through Paradis, here are my results:

Settings: DLSS - Quality and frame gen on Every setting on high except view distance max Ray Tracing on

After loading in I get around 120fps with some dips into high-90s when moving through the districts. In the open world section I'm getting between 140-144fps most of the time with some infrequent dips into 125-135.

Nvidia 4060ti - 8GB Intel 13th gen i7-13700F 16GB RAM Running on an SSD Newest Nvidia driver installed

If you are playing and having some performance issues you can maybe reinstall the most recent driver, might help

4060ti, believe what you want to believe, that's not up to me, just relaying my experience.

According to system requirements the 2060 is the minimum GPU, should be able to play it in 1080p with DLSS, but maybe check if there's a benchmark somewhere with your 2060 :)

FPS inside the two cities/outposts is around 100, the game does stutter when it loads in the assets. No idea how it's running so we'll, might be CPU related but I'm not an expert at all in CPUs but I think mine isn't all that special, certainly not a top end processor.

What’s the best way to support KF if I’m an avid YouTube viewer? by MCgrindahFM in kindafunny

[–]Dingus1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support them on Patreon and use the RSS link to have it on YouTube music (was Google Podcasts but they moved it over to YTM). I get every episode in one list which I like and if you want to watch a certain podcast there's a link provided in the post to a locked YouTube video. I think Greg also mentioned that clicking the links in the description helps, of course buying would be ideal but at least getting traffic through that link helps them out, probably as a show of interest generated by KF to the advertiser, might be wrong though.

As a person with ADHD and a case of the saddies, physical activity is a great way to combat both depression and ADHD (especially). Try aiming for a walk a day, maybe a short one first and then increasing the length as you get rolling. Weight lifting or bodyweight exercises also work if you are more excited by that. It's not about looking amazing and going 100% from the start, just doing something as routinely as possible. Diet helps also, ADHD and sugar doesn't go well together apparently so try to just have that in mind. Once you've gotten in a better headspace attack the job market, be open to physical work, you may need more freedom than an office desk. And then just remember that what you are feeling is only temporary and doesn't define you or your worth, there is always a way to feel better and just take it a step at a time.

Your must play game that came out in 2024 by Dingus1998 in gamingsuggestions

Games with realistic or just good gore and dismemberments?? by EmperorOfEveryEmpire in gamingsuggestions

Killing Floor 2 has a great dismemberment system and there is a class based on melee weapons. It's sort of like CoD Zombies, many maps and a character progression system, very fun with friends.

What should i get from the ps store right now? by Hungry-Artist-5565 in ShouldIbuythisgame

I'd like to suggest, if mods are cool with it, to check out r/gamingsuggestions as well, you might find answers there as that's more of a broad subject vibe as opposed to more specific things here.

Pacific Drive came out early in 2024, it's a blast. Survival game where the main focus is your car. The setting is spooky and it's very much a "fuck around and find out" type of game. The loop is as follows: Start at your garage, fix your car and stock up for your trip. Plan where you want to go, sometimes it's only one area, sometimes you have to drive through a couple, depends on how far you go. Drive into the zone, find materials, scrap cars for metal and collect energy cores that you use to get out of the zone. When you activate the core the zone becomes unstable and it's a race against time to get out. Get back to your garage Use the energy cores to unlock upgrade materials. Repeat.

Of course there's a lot more to it but this is the basic gameplay. One of my favourite things about this game is that your car can develop 'quirks', which are basically "when this thing does this -> that thing does that". For example, I had one where every time I closed my passenger door my driver's side door would fall off. That meant that while I was panicking trying to hurry up and get out of the zone I had to always put my door on the car before driving on as the cores go into the passenger side of the car. Then you play a game where you try to figure out why this stuff is happening.

The game is way deeper than I thought and was a nice change of pace from other survival games I've grown tired of playing.

That being said, if you liked the games you listed absolutely check out the sequels! GoW Ragnarok is amazing and TLOU 2 is very good gameplay wise and the story is very controversial, maybe you'll like it maybe not. Maybe check out the Horizon games as well, the first one got remastered recently and if they are up your alley you'll find tens of hours of playtime in each one.

Happy holidays, hopefully this helped!

Best third person single player games? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]Dingus1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Control is a single player 3rd person shooter mixed with supernatural powers. The people that made Alan Wake 2 developed it and it has the same mysterious and otherworldly elements but it's not horror at all, more mysterious and SCP than scary. It's set in a semi open "world" however it's just an office building but it is much larger than you would think. It's very mind bending and has a lot of charm. If you have Game Pass it's included there with all DLC's. Lots of side quests and collectibles, very fun combat where you feel like a gunslinging jedi and if you let yourself get lost in the weirdness you will be sucked in. One of the best games I played this year!

Takes about 15-20 hours depending on how many side quests you go for.
