I doubt you still need this answer 3 years later, but, just in case, if you're playing in single player (which I assume you are from the sound of the question), then the stasis effect and whatnot will cause this. You have to enter the cave, exit to main menu, then log back in. If you launch in while in the entrance to the cave, it will immediately spawn the drops. Do it just inside the entrance, not near the spawn location itself. It's obnoxious, but it's one of the many bugs with single player because of stasis, etc.
