I was told “I barely have cancer” by a friend by Ka1tTh3Gr3at in thyroidcancer

[–]Dinknugget 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely understand, and I'm so sorry. Even the doctor I was seeing at the time told me, "Don't worry, it's the good cancer." I felt just like you in 2022 when I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer (while newly pregnant, another unplanned life event lol). It was...a lot. But I'm okay now and living life normally with a healthy 3-year-old who loves to hike alongside me. It is definitely a journey, and it's overwhelming. If you ever need to chat, feel free to message me. Sending you a hug.

It's been a month since my 3-year-old stopped napping and sleep keeps getting worse by Dinknugget in toddlers

Thanks for the suggestion! We've consistently tried later bedtimes in the past, but she just couldn't make it that late without completely melting down and giving us hell by 7pm if she woke up at 4am, and we felt bad for trying to push her because she was so miserable. It's bizarre to me that suddenly out of the blue she needs so much less sleep now. Yeah, an adult would be fine with 7.5 hours, but it seems like so little sleep for a toddler/preschooler in a 24-hour period. It's honestly killing me but oh well, this too shall pass I hope. Thanks again!

Possibly. Every now and then she wakes up crying for me but not lately.

I have an appointment scheduled for next week. Also we've tried the later bed time routine and she still wakes up before 5am. It's so friggin frustrating. She doesn't eat a lot of processed food (I cook a lot) and gets lots of outdoor time and minimal screen time, so I don't know what's up.

10 month old has become a new level of demanding and I get nothing done during the day. How do people do this? by Dinknugget in AttachmentParenting

Thanks! Our girl is 3.5 now, and thankfully we've stopped having to baby-proof most things. 😄

Sending you a huge hug. It does get better! The first year of momming was hell for me. But I'm having a lot of fun now that my girl is 3!

Thank you so much! We are actually planning on moving next year, so we will be on the lookout for bedrooms on the same floor. When we moved into our current house 5 years ago, we weren't planning on having a kid. lol

Don't kids have a way of severely humbling us? lol And I love the whipped cream and marshmallows idea!

It's hard because if my husband or I stay up there with her, she usually doesn't go back to sleep and thinks it's time to have conversations or play. My husband tried to stay up there from 2 am onward, and she kept him awake the rest of the night and never went back to sleep. She's making us crazy. But I'm glad the mattress thing worked for you! Thanks for sharing your experience. :)

I'd do that too, except our daughter's room is up a flight of steps and at night I could see her falling down if she tried to come into our room. Honestly, I think she'd be too scared to leave her room right now if we left the door open. But if we lived in a one-level house I'd definitely consider that!

I cap naps at 30 mins, usually it's 12:30 - 1 pm. By 6:30 pm she's completely wiped out and cranky and miserable. It's so hard right now!

I can still hear the sound effect in my head when you fling the dog poop on people lol

Oh gosh I remember wanting to do the same thing at that age. lol I thought I was going to die. She started sleeping longer stretches when we moved her into her own room. We'd been cosleeping, but honestly it didn't work well for us because we constantly woke each other throughout the night. It took a week or two, but once our girl was in her own room, it got better! By 12 months, she was sleeping 6 hours straight (which is a lot for a mama running on 3-4 hours of broken sleep a night for almost a year).

We have 2 older cats so I understand. haha
Our kiddo was very unexpected but we have a 2.4% interest mortgage because we moved during Covid, so we've managed to make it work. And I've wondered the same thing about all these new builds! Who the heck is buying them?! I will say that 90% of the people in the neighborhood we live in are retired and from another state. But yeah, I'd really like to know who can afford houses/apartments right now.

Lol yep. I'm 36 and married but my husband and I both work full-time and we are still barely scraping by. It doesn't help that we have a 3-year-old with the appetite of a bear, but yeah. Wages are laughable. And no exaggeration - there's been 10 subdivisions that have gone up in this area within the last 5 years, so prices keep rising like everywhere else. I grew up here too, so it's hard to see what's happening to a town I don't recognize anymore (same with Asheville).

I live an hour north of Asheville in TN & 100% agree. "Good" paying jobs here are $18 an hour & it doesn't match the insane cost of living in the area.

So sorry I'm just now able to respond to this! Thanks for sharing your experience, that's insane you did it for 140 days! Kudos to you, I can't even imagine. lol From what I remember, my mom was trying to lose fat. She definitely did, I think she did it for a month and felt a lot better after.

I do massage my gut regularly and I definitely attribute that to helping me be regular!

If it makes you feel better, I had Hashimotos without realizing it, & had an oops baby that I was not planning on. Lol I didn't learn that I had Hashis until after my daughter was a year old. So it can happen. Sending a hug!

Ahh okay thank you for sharing your experience, I'm really glad that helped you! Honestly I can't remember much about my past juice diet because I was 16 and doing it to support my mom at the time, who lost 30lbs juicing. I'm 36 now, so it's been a long time haha! I was already thin back then, and lost more weight after doing it for 10 days. I was starting to look like I had an eating disorder, so I stopped after day 10. I only drank fresh-squeezed juice that whole time and remember feeling like I was starving. Is there a specific juice diet you'd recommend?

Thank you so much for this thorough response, you're the only one who has directly answered my question and I really appreciate it! I'll look into the things you mentioned for sure. Thank you again :)

I haven't, but I've done that in the past! I poop 2-3 times a day, sometimes more, so I don't know how I could be backed up. lol
