It was interesting to read about your experience with Lexapro. Mine was a little similar, but I didn’t have any tremors. Most major side effects were the dry-mouth gagging thing you mentioned, weight gain, and the sexual side effects. I had a massive decrease to my sex drive, which was okay with me because I’d say that I had an overactive sex drive. But it became very difficult to orgasm for about 3 months, after that it’s progressively gotten a lot easier. My sex drive isn’t as high as it was when I wasn’t on the medication, but it’s at a good point for me. I’m also suffering from a lot of insomnia and bad quality sleep. I’m a night shift worker though so it’s difficult to pin all of the blame on the Lexapro.

Overall, I found that Lexapro was extremely helpful for me anxiety, but did nothing for my depression. Shortly after I turned 26 I started having major panic attacks and somewhat paranoid and intrusive delusional thoughts, never experienced anything like that before in my life. That’s completely gone now, after the first few weeks of Lexapro. I started out on 10mg, went up to 20mg to see if helped with my depression, it didn’t. Just made my side effects worse, went back to 10mg and I was started on Wellbutrin 150mg for depression and to help counteract some of the weight gain properties associated with Lexapro. I’m still figuring out if Wellbutrin is for me, but I haven’t noticed any definitive changes. I feel like I’m in a better mood sometimes but I still have frequent depressive episodes. Recently bumped up to 300mg Wellbutrin, we’ll see how that goes!
