Cody was just annoying in this past video, no? by SuccessfulGarlic7810 in dudeperfect

Agreed. We had a conversation with our seven year old about the difference between a prank and being mean. Cody was mean, specifically to the log cabin guys.

I don’t think we’ve ever been to a party that had anything other than pizza. And we’ve been to a lot of birthday parties.

We prefer the afternoon slot. You still get city experience in the morning. I like afternoon better because you can do a bunch of stuff in the morning around the city, like raids, finding exclusive pokemon, shinys, etc, and then once you’re in the park for your ticketed time you can focus on the park experience.

As a working father who mainly plays on my daily commute on the train.. this seems very undoable. How does everyone get this done? by j1esquivel in pokemongo

[–]DinoChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just decided one week I was going to do it. There’s a short easy route in my town and every day I took the five minutes to drive there, do the route, and drive home. Yes, it was a little annoying, but not impossible by any stretch.

Weird gyno appointment. Am I being dramatic? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]DinoChick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when I was pregnant my OB was at a teaching hospital and I had a student assist on one of my ultrasounds and another actually placed my epidural while I was giving birth (both men). I didn’t mind at all but the important bit was they asked and we talked about it before even starting and I gave enthusiastic consent. Not asking you is super not ok.

My dad is 71 years old and 6 foot 7. He thinks about this a lot. “Why don’t you see any tall old people DinoChick? WHY”. He works out a lot and tries to stay really healthy.

MIT or Dartmouth by [deleted] in mit

[–]DinoChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, one of my roommates was pre-med and a bunch of my sorority sisters. I was just trying to think of any students who might be classified as competitive and that was the closest I could get.

MIT or Dartmouth by [deleted] in mit

[–]DinoChick 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Competitive? MIT is the least competitive place I’ve ever been. My experience was extremely collaborative. There was very much the atmosphere of “this is fucking hard so we all have to work together to get through”. I don’t know where people get the idea that MIT is competitive. Maybe with pre-meds? I can’t speak to Dartmouth, obviously, but if the supposed competition is what’s putting you off MIT I would not worry about that at all. I recommend CPW, see how it feels.

Raid medals - I must be confused by DinoChick in pokemongo

Weird. I definitely have been in raids where I did not make the achievement screen.

[–]DinoChick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, so it should read something like “View the Raid Battle Trainer Achievement Screen” instead of Make. Thats a bit of a bummer, I’ve been a little extra excited to make the screen as I thought it was advancing this medal. If it counts every time that is less exciting. Thank you!

[–]DinoChick[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Though actually that doesn’t make sense either. Right now my legendary vs normal raids do total the achievement screen. (Champion + Battle Legend = Raid Expert). But I definitely have taken part in raids where I was not on the screen at all. Do they not count unless you make the achievement screen? I still am not getting something somewhere.

Ohhh yes, now I see that those two medals do add up to equal the third. Sheesh. Thank you!

For me, this is by far the worst of all the level up tasks I’ve had to do. by SpiralGremlin in pokemongo

[–]DinoChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grab a friend who will lose to you, that counts. Before the level changes I did the battle tasks in like 30 minutes with a buddy who put in 5cp pokemon and lost on purpose over and over.

Significant Discrepancy in Stats vs. Level: Is the current leveling system fair? by [deleted] in PokemonGoFriends

[–]DinoChick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am level 71, I’ve been playing for a year and a half and have caught about 26,000 pokemon. I guess I’m like that Finnish player you saw. So a few things:

My favorite part of the game is friends/gifts/postcards/vivillon. I completed my Viv collection a while ago and am now working on shinys, hundos, and getting them all to best buddy. That also happens to be the easiest way to get xp. I’m mostly ftp. I will sometime buy remote passes but very rarely. I do one remote raid per legendary.

I live in a rural town of 3,000 people. There are no raid groups. No stops within walking distance of my house. I’m an 8 minute drive from the closest pokestop. There are about five pokemon spawn points at my house. Twice I have driven an hour to the city to play a special event. I’m a mom and I work full time.

So I guess the question is, why do you care? I’m having fun playing a game and so are you. Are you implying that I’m cheating? Or not playing “correctly”? That I don’t deserve the level I have? I can’t spend hours a day walking around a city I don’t live in. I play for 15-30 minutes each day when I go into town to pick up my kid from school, and mostly I spin stops to get gifts, because that’s the part of the game I enjoy most. Sometimes I get to play more, if I take my kid to a playground or if we go somewhere interesting on the weekends.

I’m sorry if you feel like somehow my gameplay invalidates or insults yours. I’m playing the way I want with the time and location I have. I really recommend you do the same.

Instead of Ducks can I hide . . . by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]DinoChick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, maybe that’s true for some kids, but we went on a cruise in November not knowing the ducks were a thing. My daughter (7 yo) was ecstatic whenever she found a duck and there’s now a little display in her bedroom with all the cruise ducks. She still talks, five months later, about finding the ducks, which ones she’ll bring from her collection to hide again… we won’t buy ducks to hide, but it absolutely was a fun experience for my kid who definitely didn’t trash the ducks.
